1.31 Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The environmental issue is too complex to be handled by the individual.

I do believe that it is impossible for social individuals to solve the problems of enrironmental. The reasons are as follows.

First of all, many environmental deteriorations which are not caused by human beings will continue to worsen no matter how hard the whole society try, not to mention the social individuals. As we know, desertification has been estimated that more and more of earth’s land surface is threatened by this process, and parts of it result from the natural processes. Obviously, the individual, even the whole of mankind can do nothing about it, because they even can not solve the ones are caused by humans. Under this circumstance, the individual is to desertification what the moth to fire.

Secondly, those environmental problems which do come from the people’s activities can only be overcomed by the whole society, not the individual. The issues including global warming, shortages of resouse, air pollution and water pollution, etc.,are too difficult for individual to prevent. For instance, the global warming mainly caused by the carbon dioxide needs efforts between countries, not individuals. You can imagine what is the result if others are blind to the gas emissions while you are reducing the times you drive you car as possible as you can. It means nothing. The gas emissons will still increase and the global warming will be more and more serious. So it is necessary for governments to cooperate with each other.

Another point worth mentioning is that the views stated above do not mean that the individuals is not significant for protecting our environment. On the contrary, it is the individuals contribute to the whole society. Whether the goverments or orgnizations work effectively, it depends on the each individual.
So the individuals need to try their best to obey those policies made by administration while the goverments advocate or even force people to make efforts together.

To sum up, the environment issue caused by humans is better to solve by governments than by the individuals. And the individuals are supposed to work in conjunction with the governments.
