The argument contends that dentists should advertise to attract male patients and emphasize on their excellent abilities of assuaging the pain and pressure of the nervous or suffering customers based on the assumption that men are more likely to be distressed about haveing dental work done than women are. However, this assumption is incredible since the statistics upon which it depends are unconvincing.
In the first place, the dentist claims that men are more likely to feel pain than women when having a dental work done relied on the statistics collected by dentists. However, there are some other conditions needed to be considered. First, can the patients contributing to the statistics represent all the patients? Perhaps the statistics are made from another city and cannot tell the situations of our city. Second, though the statistics contend that there are three times more men than women faint while visiting the dentist, it is unconvincing without presenting the differences between proportions of the fainting male and female patients. It is possible that the proportion of the fainting male patients is less than the proportion of female ones. Third, even all those statistics are credible, there is no justifiable evidence to prove that there is a connection between fainting and distressing. Perhaps there are some other facts that can make patients faint. Therefore, in order to make sure that men are more easily suffered from pain, a wilder and more accurate survey should be made.
In the second place, the dentist assumes that patients will believe the advertisements. On the one hand, since this advertisement is made by the dentist himself/herself, it is unpersuasive to the patients. The patients might believe the information gotten from their friends rather than an advertisement. On the other hand, even though the the sensitivity of their staff to nervous or suffering patients is great, there is no proof that they can prevent the pain while this can only demonstrates that the staff can know the fact that patients are suffering pain more quickly than others. So without those conditions be cleared in the advertisement, patients would not believe this advertisement.
In the finally analysis, the dentist ignores the opposite effects of this advertisement. On one side, people might not see this advertisement if it is put in a wrong place so that this advertisement would be nothing but a waste of money. On the other side, even patients can see this advertisement, it might make the patients be afraid of seeing a dentists for the reason that they imagine the pain in their minds worse than the factual pain according to this advertisement. All in all, this advertisement must be designed properly so that it can have a positive effects.
To sum up, the dentist must make a thorough investigation to make sure that men is more likely to feel pain than women during a dental operation before making an advertisement. In addition, in order to have positive effects, the dentist must make it clear in the advertisement that patients would have less pain if they go to his/her clinic and put it in a right place at a right time.

In the statistics, the arguer has concludes that the male consumer should be considered as the aim object of the dentists who will advertise. To illustrate this conclusion, the author has considered that among patients it is easier for men to faint. In addition, the arguer reasons that men are more likely to be distressed when seeing dentists. However, with a logical inference, it is very reluctant to deduce this conclusion.
开头可以。但是有一点,你分析的两个原因,好像他们之间是因果关系,而不是并列关系哦。
In the first place, the comparison is short of sufficient information, it is incomplete. Through a statistics, the arguer concludes that the rate of men who are faint when seeing a dentist is higher than that of women. However, the author has failed to supply concerning information about the statistical sample when doing this statistics, how many men and women are in this sample. The sample is the most significant element in statistics, without mentioning the information of sample, any conclusions would be so reluctant that they are incredible(者全部是论证). It is likely that during that period, the men who went to dentists are far more than women, too few quantity of women could not been justifiably compared in statistics(这个是反例). Only if the number of men and women in the sample has been equal, the result would be accurate.
写的有点像issue。就像我标记的一样,论证太多了。
In the second place, the argument is based on a false analogy. Through analyzing the statistics, the arguer has reasoned that situation when persons who will be distressed are seeing dentists would be the same circumstance of that statistics data(不通,看不明白). However, the arguer has not provided complete evidence to testify that faintness is the same symptom as the distress; hence the analogy is short of enough information so that it might not deduce a proper result. It is likely that faintness is a symptom which is not relative with distress, a man who is easier to be faint when seeing dentists is possibly not to be distressed. When confronting this situation, the analogy would be opposite. Thus only if these two symptoms are positively relative, the conclusion could be true. Without any proper precondition, it is this kind of inference that should be always an uncertain result.
说明昏厥和紧张之间的关系。
To sum up, the arguer has failed to establish a appropriate relationship between conclusion and precondition. For the purpose of making it proper, the arguer should provide a sample of statistics when doing statistics. On the other hand, before he has resulted a conclusion through drawing a analogy, a relative precondition should be supplied. Only if the inference might be appropriate(only if might 是不是都表示假设啊,没有必要用这么多啊,), then a true result might be deduced.
攻击点找到了。还是多看点范文,推推荐看下麦可的官方范文分析。 |
