TOPIC: ISSUE130 - "How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."

From ancient time to modern day, there is a firm attitude that children today will be in the leading position in future. As the matter of fact, children will finally turn into adults and become the pillar of the society. However, are we ready to have the honor to cultivatethem as what the society needs? Have the essence of the education and the fundamental virtue of the society been grasped by our teachers and educators? These issues should be deeply concerned by us.

Despite the basic virtue, such as honesty, fairness, the adaptability to the society should be considered first. From this point of view, the speaker's statement is reasonable. The changes of the society is so tremendous that when we talk about the it, the words " complexity” and “danger"will appear in our mind instantaneously. Most children, of course, are innocent easily influenced by the villains. Once children are bogged down into it, it is pretty difficult to reshape their character. Thus, we should never hesitate to force them to keep away from the temperance of the society. Meanwhile, it can't be too earlier to equip the children with the basic skills to defend the pernicious influences. We dare not linger as the time is urgent and the difficulty of the work is beyond what could have been imagined.

It is the common phenomenon that adults, especially those who engage in education, always worry about the future of the young generation but to our delight, the result is often contrary. Taking the people who were born at the 1970's for example, before being adults, people at that time hold the opinion that this generation is not endurable and capable enough to bring about a better society than it they dwell on, for they have not been tested in the war. On the contrary, this generation has the competence to maintain their family and sustain the development of the society. This example is worthy of our consideration. We should have confidence withour education that it can bring the children to the leading position of the society after ten years or more. The essence of education is to replace an empty mind with many fundamental virtues, such as honesty, fairness, self-discipline, fidelity to family, friends and work, and love to the country. Meanwhile, we should not neglect the basic skills to survive the society, the ability to relate to others, to prevent temptation and the erosion of decayed ideology. For those students receiving higher education, in addition to taking the core lessons at class, children should be encouraged to go outside the school to savor each segment of the society by make investigation and research about those issues they prefer. Another crucial point I want to mention in this process is that a tutor is indispensible to be partly engaged in for the reason that the students are not grown-up enough.

However, it is early to say that everything is under control. the college is at the edge of losing its battle field. Smoothly and quietly, the unhealthy belives is eroding this clean area. People that have been aware of this phenomenon argue that the boundary between school and society should be clear, so that the children are seldom influenced. This statement will amount to the "two-edged sword".From my viewpoint, the benefits of allowing students to adjust themselves to society early outweigh the drawbacks. I dread to think that what will happen when children walk into the society but can't make heads and tails about it.

I dare not linger
