It is accepted by every one that the innovation in the science acts as the momentum of the society development. While between the beginners and the experts, which kind of people are more likely to make important discoveries? In my view point, although the beginners may have courage to make many detects in new direction, I tend to believe the experts are more likely to make important innovations.

We have to admit the beginners of every field have endure and the courage to think and detect without the impact of the background knowledge, which may act as a limitation to the innovation. As beginners, every one wants to make an achievement in the field he initiated. This desire makes them focus on their work and ignite their intelligence for the innovation. Crick discovered the structure of the DNA molecular by imagination and at that time he was still a postgraduate student. The vivid example illustrated that the beginners have the courage to detect the unknown world of their field. Meanwhile, their thought may not be limited by the established knowledge. But what we should also consider is that without the basic conception of the nucleotide, anyone cannot think out the space structure of it.

To be honest, any discoveries must base on the background knowledge, although it may undermine the mew discovery at some times. Just have a think most discoveries of the science world are made by experts. Newton can not connect the fall of an apple with the gravity without the knowledge he calculated before; without numerous times of the tries, Mary Curial can not discover the radium and isolate the isotope from the ore. In this concern, although the new idea is essential for the new discoveries in the science field, the background knowledge acts as the basic of it. I do not think Crick can think out the conformation of the DNA without any information of it. Among the beginners and the experts who are the people with much knowledge of a certain field? They are experts! In other words they have the plate constructed by the basic knowledge of a field which is the basic for the further discoveries. When ever they got a new idea, it is easily for them to put it into practice.

To sum up, the innovation in any field calls for two factors: basic knowledge and new ideas. It takes a long time for every one to master the knowledge of a discipline and became the expert of it. So it is the experts are more likely to make important discoveries than the beginners, although the beginners may have new ideas as they can not be limited by the established knowledge.
Admittedly, there are some beginners of many fields got great breakthrough, they must combined their innovate ideas with the established knowledge of their field.
