51"Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."
Generalize from the context; the author essentially puts forward the consideration of the aims of effective education and the measures to realize such goals. In the topic, it is appreciable that the author advocates that education should be modified according to the demands of each student with their interests in count as well. In addition, such pragmatic procedure would certainly reach the goal of education. Such viewpoint, after a careful scrutiny, just hit the point one-sided.
Personally speaking, the main aim and primary goal of education should be equip the students the basic skills to survive the lifelong competing performances while consummate the students so as to let them understand the world and themselves properly and optimistically.
From this conception, the topic is cogent since it takes the characteristics of every individual student into consideration. In practical cases, there would be students who would like to learn by listening and following the guider’s instruction as well as demonstrations when someone else prefer to fight alone against tasks and DIY all the projects with no guidance at all. At the same time, the different interests in diversified areas of human attainments has originally determine the way of guiding students of that interest on their way to pursuit their career in the field. It is entirely divergent to be trained as an astrophysicist and to cultivate as an economist indeed. It is apparently effective if the education procedures are specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.
But meanwhile, albeit we are trying our best to make everyone being taught appreciate the personalized education procedures; we have to keep in mind that the ultimate task of education is not that personal and discrete. There should be a general overlook contributed to the entirety of the continuity of human civilization since the education is as well to prepare our offspring for the inheritance and progress of man knowledge, not in pieces but as a whole. That is to say, besides the personalized and characterized methods of education, to go one step further, there should be a more catholic and centralized conception or even value to be instilled during the education, which, if well-indoctrinated, would incipiently combine different fields interactively and cooperatively, which, at last, would end up with the well-functioning of the whole mankind knowledge system instead of a chaos and incompatibility of different areas.
Futhermore, even from a pragmatic viewpoint, such procedure involves with one problem that may be difficult to be solved properly: the effectiveness of such specificity depends on the responses from the students who are taking such procedures. There is such a probability that even such students may not be exactly sure about their own needs and interests if they have not been exposed to the areas yet, which, on the contrary, requires a universally oriented education that is not specific at all.
To sum up, education has its own obligation to fulfill, meanwhile, not matter from the pragmatic viewpoint or to analyze the primary destination of education, it requires cohesion of generality as well personalize measures, which two, essentially speaking, are not contradict at all.
