In the reading passage, the writer believes that there are several problems with the painting of an elderly woman in a white bonnet; hence it may not be attributed to Rembrandt. However, in the lecture, the professor answers these problems.

To begin with, according to the reading passage, the writer issues a problem that there was a fur collar in the woman's coat, which inconsistent with the woman's other dress and Rembrandt wouldn't make such an inconsistency. Nevertheless, the professor indicates that the fur collar wasn't part of the original painting; it was painted over the original painting hundreds of year after the painting was made.

In addition, unlike the writer's opinion that the light and shadow in this painting didn't fit together, the professor maintains that once the fur collar is removed, these elements just as realistic as Rembrandt's other paintings.
