During the project, there may be a lot of spare time. If we just start another one project after finishing one, the spare time would be wasted, because in some situation, we have to stop by when the project is proceeding and can do nothing to help go on the projects. For instance, I have to do lots of organic chemical experiments during my semester. Each experiment reacted for long to complete degree, which gives me spare time between I started and ended one. To fulfill such free time, I choose to begin another experiment. It seems that I have used every single minute to save lots of time. When seen from the perspective of manpower, projects should be definitely done at a time. The “time” here represents the broad concept instead of the narrow one. For the same reason given above, of course I can deal with two or several experiments at a time. Not to mention the aspect of materials.

It can be argued that dealing with two or several projects at a time may distract the manager’s concentration, which will result in the imperfect of the whole projects. Such distraction only happens in the situation which the operator does not arrange the time and the materials well. Doing the right thing in the right time absolutely will help the proceeds of all projects smoothly. Take myself as an example again. I can start three or more reactions at a time. Before every experiment, I prepared anything I would use during the starting: have all equipments ready, find all raw materials, and keep the whole process in mind. When one was young, his/her parents helped to make decisions. Once the person becomes an adult, he/she has to make the decision by his/her willing. Sometimes, they let others make decisions for them; sometimes they make decisions by themselves. In my view, it all depends.

In some causal situation, people may let others make decisions. Such decisions do not have serious impact on their interests, or on the other saying, their future. For instance, I used to going out with my friends casually. And we can not just idle around on the street and have to decide where to go. We come out with couples of choices, and then go to the place which is mostly voted. In this situation, we have to satisfy most people’s request. As a result, we just need to express our own desire instead of making decisions.

In more serious situations, we have to make decisions by ourselves. Like applying for the university, choosing our career, deciding an investment or something else, we have to make decisions by ourselves. First of all, these decisions involve one’s own interest and future, most people will not let others to decide his/her career in the future. Secondly, if we let others make decisions for us, they might not be able to assume the liability. What if such decisions get confirmed to be awful someday in the future? What if we begin to regret after the decisions have been made? We may be not so rational to blame it to the one who made the decision for us, though it was us who let others made decisions. Take myself as an example; I am very regretful that my dad made me choose chemistry as my major. At that time, I wanted to enroll in the Institute of Commerce. In addition, most people will only let others give advices when they need to make decisions. My uncle is playing the stock market. He listened to others’ experiences and advices. But he never let others to decide which piece of stock he should invest. He just follows his own feeling. Since such decision concern one’s own profits, most people will not let others make decisions.

With the reasons I mentioned above, I can say that whether most people make decision by themselves or others all depends on the different situation. In the casual situation, both are possible. But when it comes to the more serious situation, people can only get the satisfying results with their own decisions.
