ISSUE99 - "In any realm of life-whether academic, social, business, or political-the only way to succeed is to take a practical, rather than an idealistic, point of view. Pragmatic behavior guarantees survival, whereas idealistic views tend to be superceded by simpler, more immediate options."

In modern society, too many people focus on interests and fame when they take actions. In other words, people are taking practical approaches in their behaviors. This is understandable, since everybody needs to survive and pragmatic behaviors guarantee survial. However, survival is not the full purpose of human lives, we need to pursue higher common goals to improve humanity, society and spiritual satistications. Such goals sounds idealistic, but they deserve our effort.

The ideals in reals of life contribute to the well-being of humans. Humans are always facing long-standing problems, such as poverty, inequility, disease, envriomental problems. People without an idealistic view, usually find it hard to solve these problems which requires enormous effort from many people. From a practical point of view, they also find that devotion to such problems does not bring themselves any profit. Yet, there are examples of many great people who have been committed to the common problems that humans suffer from. They have always been dedicated to bring humanity and the society to a better situation. Take Gahntti as an example, during his whole life, he effortlessly run for the liberty of Indian people from the Britain Emperor. He was born with a good socal standing, with which he can live a decent life with such enomous effort, but he took an idealist approach, just for a better future for his homeland and for his people.

While an idealistic view can inspire people to work toward the common good and well-being of all humans and the society, they are many practical problems to be encountered in reality. Too many people found it easy to set goals, but very hard to accomplish them. That is why ideals only are not enough. To achive a goal, especially a large goal, people should learn to break them down to small steps, which can be completed in a practical and timely way. Also, problems that may happen and impede achivements should be anticipated and taken into consideration. Problems should be identified and plans worked out. Only when we get well prepared, we can surmount problems and attain final success.

To summary up, people today confont many problems and complex situations, just an idealistc view does not help in achive common goals. Practical approaches should also be taken to assure the final success.
