Issue48:
"The study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The most significant events and trends in history were made possible not by the famous few, but by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten."
提纲:1.诚然历史上有意义的事件和潮流是由一群人发动的;
2.然而这一群人往往是被那些著名人物所领导或者影响的;
3.人们往往直接提起那些发动者和领导者,这样似乎忽略了有贡献的那一群人;
4.但是历史上并非真正忘记那一群人而是选择一个名人作为那一群人的代名。
From every kind of history documents, the famous individuals appears all around these books while there seems little a group of common people were mentioned. This phenomenon creates an illusion that significant events and trends were promoted by famous individuals not groups of people. This illusion is basically incorrect.
Admittedly, it is groups of people made a significant events and trends. Only by individual, he or she cannot do nothing because a single person cannot compete with the inherent power consist with a group of people. For instance, Martin Luther King Jr. abolished the unjust law and given the equal right to black slavers with a group of people fighting, only fighting by himself the revolution could not successes obviously since himself is hardly to against large unwilling to change force. Another example, Reggie Workman, is that he is a represent of Jazz music. Beneath him is a group of people who loves jazz music lead the "jazz age".
However, groups of people was leaded or influenced by famous people, the leaders or famous people plays a vital role of archiving victory. From the examples of have discusses above, it is Martin Luther King Jr. was leading millions of people who attend the revolution to against unjust laws. He had given a famous speech that "I have a dream" influenced all over the United Nations. Many people might have the courage to revolution since excited by the great leader. Also, many fantastic with jazz music was influenced by the famous stars like Reggie Workman and others.
Because the famous ones always shows a big encourage, well leader features, deeply influence and devour to death, they often admired by generations. Their brilliant performance make them become the examples of that ear and the others, a large group of people, seem be forgotten in the history. The taken importance to famous individuals makes the illusion as the topic said.
Actually, the group of people do not forgotten, the brilliant performance of famous ones do not cover the contribution of groups of people did. The famous ones is acting as a represented of these groups of people. The prof. Martin was presenting millions of people who attend the African-American Civil Rights Movement. And the Reggie Workman was presenting an ear of whole American favored Jazz music.
As above what I discussed, the topic of that the famous individuals are remembered by us while a group of people are forgotten makes no sense. Although, the famous of people is always mentioned, groups of people, leaded by famous ones, can hardly be forgotten for their actions.
