TOPIC: ISSUE51 - "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."



首先，适度迎合学生兴趣是必要的。
但是课程全面迎合学生兴趣是不可能的，也是不全面的教育。单纯的专才并不好。
也是不符合教育精神的。Education不是迎合每一个学生的兴趣、需要，这样会助长学生的懒惰情绪。education应该是客观而全面的，提供一个空间给学生让他们作出正确的符合自己的选择。这才真正符合教育的精神。



The interests of a student often have great potential influence on one's future career so that it is truly that parents and teachers should pay much attention to the things that their kids devoted to. However, concerning about the interests doesn't equal to set up every course according to their characters. Schools are complete system of education doesn't need to cater the children so much.

What's the exact effect interests have caused? It is one's interests that lead one to a certain field of jobs usually. Because when choosing career before college, there are several criteria to make the decision: salary, interests, difficulties and family traditions. In fact, whether we can do a job perfectly depends on the enthusiasm and passion. It is these two characters that make us take the most effort to work and being energetic. For example, Bill Gates as we all known, drop out from Harvard and formed a small company. His interests of computer are beyond the reputation a famous university could bring to him and finally sent him to great success. Google company, every employee enjoys their working environments for there will always have enough place to meet their unique characters where one can wear their favorite rock clothe and bring a scooter. Interest is the inexhaustible energy to encourage us working hard all the time.

But that not equal to set up courses right following every student's hobbies in schools. It’s not practical and necessary. Students will only attend the class they like, and drop out of auxiliary and bored lessons, thus lead to incomplete students. Students especially before collage should learn as much courses of basic knowledge as possible, acquiring a comprehensive understanding of the world. We can't make smart decision of lifelong working direction before we get to know the entire alternatives well. Even in universities like Harvard, elementary courses count a big percentage of all the courses. Modern society has complex technology and social network. Owning only a skill is far from enough to work. From the skill of communication to the knowledge of common science, they are all required by almost every post. That's why school should provide a wide selection but not the only one we are interested in. Also the number of students is so huge while facilities much less that school has no such ability to feed every student’s need while guarantee the quality of education at the same time.

In addition, the main idea of education also doesn't support the courses depending on the personality of students. Education should provide a place to students to let them find out who they are and where they are going to. It is students' own responsibility to select a course that fit their own characters and come up with new issue for their own research to reach their own happiness more closely. Instead of meeting individual’s needs and interests, schools should provide courses covered almost every subject, and hire teacher with a more widely knowledge. The main mission of a school is to make students looking inside their own hearts and stimulate their potential competence; nevertheless meeting the students’ interests will save their time but discourage them to explore the unknown in their heart. Meeting every student own hobbies is a way to foster idly students while education is to arouse their talent.

In conclusion, I agree with the importance of individual needs and interests. But students should find the answers by themselves. School's job is to provide comprehensive resources which every particular student with questions will turn to and can finally find their place in.
