Somepeople think that problems brought by international tourism far outweigh itsadvantages. To what extend to you agree or disagree?


The growing prosperity around the world in21st century spurs the boom of international tourism, yet the publicattitudes whether it is a blessing or a curse are divergent due to people’srespective backgrounds and distinct understandings. However, in my personalview, we would be well-advised to give more priority to its upside.


To begin with, international tourism undoubtedlyexpand visitors’ horizon. By visiting to another country, tourists are blessedwith golden opportunities to experience a foreign culture firsthand. Morespecifically, such experience is multi-sensory including seeing, hearing oreven touching to the exotic thins at the destination rather than just peeringthrough a television or hearing news at another culture.

Secondly, international tourismsubstantially boosts the economy in the host countries. Not only has itgenerated a colossal number of jobs in the field of retail, hotel andtransportation but it has brought immense revenue from all walks of life tolocal governments. It is no exaggeration to say that it is due to varioustourism-related financial incomes that government can lay a solid foundationfor economic development.

Lastly, international tourism alsocontributes to culture diversity. Common sense informs us that culturalbarriers engender a measure of distrust, discrimination and misunderstanding,thus presenting itself in stark form to culture integration. Internationaltourism, however, can remove such embarrassment since it provides more bondingopportunities for people between countries to get clear perspectives of whatthe counterpart culture really is. Consequently, mutual understanding is formedspontaneously and culture diversity is enhanced to a great extent.

It is admitted of no doubt that travelingto other countries has some drawbacks. Deteriorating ecological equilibrium andfrequent traffic congestion in host countries, for instance, have the two.However, such problems can be alleviated gradually through adopting somefeasible measures like environmental-friendly tourism.

Judging from what has been discussed above.I strongly insist that the merits of international tourism far prevail over itsdemerits, but, at the same time, its attention should also be paid to its demeritsin order to keep it develop healthily.
