Humanity has made little real progress over the past century or so.Technological innovations have taken place,but the overall condition of humanity is no better.War,violence,and poverty are still with us.Technology cannot change the condition of humanity.

When it comes to the issue of the relationship between human condition and technological innovations,It is understandable that some people could not agreee more with the assertion above that technology can not change the condition of humanity,since technological innovations are ineffective on preventing war,violence and poverty.However,technological innovations indeed significantly improve the quality of life for humaniy.To this extent,the assertion may be improper even could not make sense.

Undeniably,last century witnessed unprecedented war and violence.Driven by the vice human nature,such as aggresion and avarice,almost every advance countries have devote myriad scientists and money to technological engineerings,especially those fields which are closely relevant with massive destructive weapons.Hence,nuclear weapons and biochemical weapons came out and threat the safe of the whole humanity.To this sense,a great deal of techniques are borned from the need of war,and indeed contributed net losses of humanity.Hence I basicaly approve this argument insofar as there is no technological solution to the longstanding problems of war,violence and poverty.

Notwithstanding technology's powlessness in limiting war,violence and poverty,20th century technological innovations clearly improve the economic standard of living and comfort level and enable people to be so powful and dispensable ever. computer serves as a paradiamatic example.the advent of compter has emancipate people from boring repetitive tasks,and enable workers to focus their attention on those meaningful work,such as achitecture,designing vehicles and bridge.More recently,the assembly-line manufacturing created untold jobs,and greatly stimulated the growth of economy,and offer sufficent materials and convenience for human at least in developed nations.Further more,in the era of running out of traditional sources, the nuclear weapon could serve as invaluable sources for human being.Another is the cloning technique as the significant breakthrough of biochemistry could massively improve the agricultral industry,hence,could be used to alleviate the famine happening in the third wolrd.

However,it is unfortune but true that no progess will come without cost.As the byproduct of industrial progress,environmental polution has become the most serious and untractable problem so far,which won't be completely solved at the absence of  participation of any country  all over the world. Another is the undesirable outcome of assembly-line manufacturing,which is the increasing alination between workers and work.More recently,the overload useless information flood the Internet are stealing our time and distract our attention from family,cares even reality.

To conclusion,given that techonological innovation can not do anything for preventing war,violenc and poverty,the assertion that technology cannot change the condition of humanity is understandable and correct in this respect.Nevertheless,if we narrowly focus "progress" on the term of economic standard,less people will doubt that technological innovation indeed brought out a conspicuous improvment to the quality of life.
