After analyzing the speaker’s statement, I conceive it contains two meanings. First is that the way people look, dress, and act reveal their attitudes and interests; Second is that their attitudes and interests can represent the society`s ideas and values. From my viewpoint, I basically agree with this statement.

To begin with, there is no denying the fact that we human beings nowadays living in a society characterized with various thoughts, colorful dresses, and different behaviors just results from the diversity of personal attitudes and interests. It indicates clearly that attitudes and interests can be revealed by the way people look, dress, and act. For example, politicians have always been insightful, formal dressed and behaved properly, which reveal their discreet attitudes toward life and profession. In contrast, artists prefer to be dressed in a unique style and behave casually, which expresses their fascinating artistic interests and individual attitudes. Hence, people can reveal their attitudes and interests freely through different way of look, dress and behavior.

In addition, in my opinion, people’s attitudes and interests can represent the main social ideas and values to a great extent. Clearly, the growth and development of us have been in the atmosphere of society. People develop their interests and establish attitudes by attending school classes and accepting guidance of the whole society, which mainly serve as the role of propagating the main social ideas and values. For instance, strong social responsibilities and pursuits for innovation of teenagers today can fully reflect the ideas and values of society—emphasis on responsibility and innovation. Consider another example. Artistic works based on the artist’s attitude and interest can also fully reflect the main social ideas and values, such as the theme song of Beijing Olympic Games, which expresses the social hope for harmony and desire for peace. Accordingly, social ideas and values can be revealed through personal attitudes and interest.

Notwithstanding, we have got to realize the fact that not the attitudes and interests of every individual can accord with the social main ideas and values, since there actually exits some ideas and values which are quite different from the mainstream, such as escaping social responsibility, absence of desire for innovation, and so forth.
Meanwhile, considering people’s difference in ability of analysis and appreciation, it’s also unconvincing that people can tell about a society’s ideas and values correctly merely by observing the appearance and behavior of its people. However, in my observation, all these deficiencies, which are worthy less attention, cannot be able to keep me from supporting the statement.

In conclusion, I basically agree with statement that people can tell about a society’s ideas and values by observing the appearance and behavior of its people, while there exist some little deficiencies.
