TOPIC: ARGUMENT103 - Blue City Highway had always been notorious for its tight curves and poor roadway visibility, and the accident rate there was generally very high. Last year the highway was redesigned to broaden the curves and improve roadway visibility. Drivers report that they now feel much safer driving on the highway and that the redesign has been a big improvement. But the number of accidents on the highway has not been significantly lower in the six months since the redesign than it was in the six months before the redesign. Therefore, the redesign clearly did not improve the curves and roadway visibility enough to make a difference.

In this argument the author claims that the redesign of the Blue City Highway did not improve the curves and roadway visibility. To support his view, the author also provide a statistic which shows that the unmber of accdients on the highway has not been siginificantly lower in the six monthths since the redesign than it was in the six months before the redisign. The conclusion of the author seems logical , however the firm fact does not let it stands.
In the first place, the author provides no evidence that the redesign of the highway clearly did not improve the curbes and roadway visibility. However the drivers now they feel much safer dribing on the highway because the redesian has been a big improvement by the Drivers reported. Then , there is no clear and firm evidence shows that the accidents did not decrease after the redesign.
In the second place , a six month peiods seems too short to make a conclusion that the redesign did not useful to improve the curves and roadway visibility. The author should provide a longer period of statistic and clearer evidence to prove that the redesign is useless to the improvement of the curves and oradway visibility.
Last but no leat , even assuming the resesign of the Blue City Highway did not improve the curves and roadway visibility enough to make the accident decrease, the author fails to prove it is the the tight curves and poor roadway visibility of the highway respond to the high accident rate. It is entiely possible there are more unexperienced drivers and elder citizen drivers on the road for the simple reason that the highway is the necessary road they dirve home. Or the reason that causes the most accidents is not the tight curves and poor roadway. So the author's conclunsion does not persuasive.
To sum up, the author provide no clear evidence that shows the redesign of the highway idd not improve the curves and roadway visibility enough to make a difference. To support his conclunsion , the author should provide more clear evidence to show that there are no other reason lead to the the accidents but the tight curves and poor roadway visibility. And longer period survey time is needed.
