31 “Money spent on research is almost always a good investment, even when the results of that research are controversial.”

Research can be defined as the exploration of the true answers to these unknown issues, and to provide solutions to our enduring problems. It may be convinced that we human beings have been researching since we are able to stand. For instance, the use of fire is the result of a research of human's intuition, although it seems to be quite simple compared to today's scientific and social research.
        As the history tells us, with research, our views are being broadened, from the whole universe to the atom; and our life are being easier and happier, due to the inventing and the development of computer and television, for example; as well as our pursuit deeper, as now a growing number of events are under our research. As a result, nowadays, almost all the countries place more and more emphasis on research, tremendous amount of money is spent on various kinds of researches. However, there still should be some strong responds to some questions: are all the researches good; and should we spend money on research without any further consideration?
        There is no denying the fact that all the research are neutral, it's only the one who use the results counts. Let's take a fact for example: the nuclear. Einstein's mass-energy equation is really a great progress in human's history, which tells us that the breathtaking energy hide beneath the placid circumstance of a simple substance. It is incontestable that Einstein did not intend to use nuclear weapons to destroy even a little part of the world, not mention the damage of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the World War II. Notwithstanding, to those who strive to make contributions to the human being, nuclear technology turns to be a thing that lend credence to power up men's life, as nuclear power stations do. Accordingly, research is a double-edged sword. What it will bring us is according to the men in charge of it.
        Nevertheless, we still need to spend money on research, surely with careful consideration. No one can deny that  only with enough support, can research promotes, and to bring benefits to human. For those which are aiming at evil results, no more money should be spent on it; while for those which aim at bringing goods to human, supports are needed. Anyway, the investment on research is quite a continuous event, no one can convict that the breakthrough would come soon, particularly for those fundamental research. That leads to a problem as perhaps there will not be enough money to spend. The solution to this problem is to call up all the individuals to subsidize the good-aimed research, not only use the taxpayers' money. What's more, the research would seem to be more meaningful on the patronage of the individuals.
        From the discussion above, I can safely draw the conclusion that money spent on research will be a good investment if the research is of good aim. And in order to get enough support, individuals, not only the government, should pay attention to the research. We can assume that with the rosy results of research, our life will be much more beautiful.
