Do politicians must keep the highest ethical that can be an outstanding leader? The speaker claims so, and I agree with speaker insofar as that it is sometimes necessary, and even desirable, to be an effective leader must preserve the ethical and moral standards. However, as an effective bellwether, some other potential characteristics are also indispensible.
First of all, let’s give a definition of what leader is. A leader is getting things accomplished by acting through others or getting people to perform to their maximum potential. And what are some common portraits leaders should have? Leaders are people who set the example and have the courage to take the initiative to dominate the situation. They are decisive, bold, and well communicative. They keep “KDA” of their duties—the ‘K’ stands for knowledge, ‘D’ represent devotion, and ‘A’ signifies accountability. And the most important is, as an effective leader, effectual leadership is the process of motivating others to meet specific objectives.
Admittedly, who uphold the moral standards, are essential leaders to be outstanding. Two examples that aptly illustrate this point involve the two, one is an effective leader, another fails to be a respectable one. The positive one is, the American 32nd president-Franklin D. Roosevelt. Due to his excellent political artifice and high moral standards, he became the only president elected continually for four terms. Consider less egregious examples, such as President Nixon, the revelation of Watergate conspiracy curbed executive's power, strengthen the supervision of president's ethic and behavior, and erode the confidence of public toward government. From the opposite examples, it is requisite to maintain a high moral standard for to be an outstanding leader.
However, it is not sufficient for an effective leader only retains the ethical, intelligent decision and charisma is also essential. For instance, Martin Luther King, in 1964, he became the youngest person to receive the Noble Peace Price for his work to lead end racial segregation and racial discrimination civil disobedience and other non-violent means. By the time of his death in 1968, he had refocused his efforts on ending poverty and opposing the Vietnam War, both from a religious perspective. So an effective leader must own many prominent characteristics, not only maintain ethical critical, but also own not ordinary personalities.
In sum, the issue fundamental is right. Nevertheless, to be a leader is difficult, and to be an effective leader is undoubtedly harder. It is necessary for maintain an ardent heart to meet local residents’ needs from beginning to the end, and the gifted virtue is also indispensible, or he would ends up forfeiting the political game. |
