3.4：Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The ability of writing and reading is less important than before.

Alone with the modern technical development, variety of equipments have been dramatically invented or improved so that the increasing number of things are convenient to deal with, like writing and reading. Nowadays, people do not spend more time in collecting documents to read, or studying files to write a beautiful article, because computer are able to help us. As a result, a general statement is believed that the ability of writing and reading is not as significant as before. For my perspective, the illustration is fairly correct.

To start with, it is no doubt that the ability of writing or reading is difficult to elaborate when a large number of information can be got from internet, through the website or certain software. College students’ paper is apparently improved such situation. When students have to submit semester’s paper, majority of them are used to collecting related documents on computers, then absorbing useful thoughts or sentences to organize his/her paper. Finally, it is impossible to recognize whether this paper’s writer is a common college student or a doctor or a professor.

Furthermore, it is indicated that the ability of writing and reading is not the important criteria to judge a person’s ability. It is generally acknowledged that, in ancient China, the system to collect a talented people was to writing articles, which is the only one standard for the empire to enroll the talents. Consequently, the teenagers paid more attention on writing passages and reading books than other skills.

In conclusion, it is difficult to say that writing and reading is not essential at all, however, it also should be advocated that integrate ability plays an more important role in new era.
