改了好久啊。。。。。一开始思路没弄好
Arts are one of the most wonderful creations by human beings. Thus, a threshold question arises: Whether arts reveal the otherwise hidden ideas and impulses of a society? Some people raise the supportive ideas while others not. So far as I'm concerned, I propose that though arts works merely are expression of individual artists, many arts do disclose the hidden ideas and impulses of a society.
Necessarily, art essentially act as way to express the feelings and emotions of their composers. Sometimes, those impulses may not always well character or describe a certain society background. Even at some cases, after a sudden burst or inspiration, those impulses may disappear soon and never come back again. Under such circumstances, art works inspired by these impulses may not stand for a certain social background. Take Van Gogh as an example, his works embody the inner spirit he holds toward life, which is not accepted by his contemporary fellows. Thus, his arts didn’t reveal the social hidden impulses and ideas of that time.
However, this is not necessary all the case. In most circumstances, arts do disclose the hidden ideas and impulses of a society.
Indeed, since arts are perceived as the highest standard and abstractive way to express man's feeling and thoughts, many of those art works represent a certain background of society; after all, arts are created by artists who live in a specific society of certain period. Take a book, Jean-Christophe, written by Romain Rolland, for example, in the book, author composed a life story about a musician Jean-Christophe, who was raised in a decayed musician family and fight against with the hard life to pursue his music dreams. In that book, author added many critics to the 19th century’s prevailing musical styles in France and German. Because of the in detailed description and insightful critics in the book, many musician historian turn to it for materials to analyze the non-mainstream music ideas of that period time and find the reasons impetus the innovation and change in Europe 19ths. This vivid example illustrates how successfully an art work in reflecting the ideas, values and impulses of a specific society.
In other cases, art not only disclose the hidden ideas, but also induce the spread of those ideas and impulses. Arts deal with no nation boundaries, so that ideas could spread all over the world via form of arts. Among all the arts, music may contribute most in this procedure. For example, after industrial revolution, when people are becoming wealthier than ever before, series of environmental problem continues disturbing human's life. However, most of mankind didn’t realize the seriousness of this problem. Thus many artists stand out, making art works to alarm people about this problem. Among those excellent works, Michael Jackson’s ‘Earth Song’ is one of most standing outs. Those beautiful and euphonic music works fashioned all over the world, reminding people the importance of protecting environment.
In conclusion, admittedly, art works are expression of the inner spirits of artists; sometimes they may not represent a certain social ideas or impulses. But in most circumstances, they do reveal the ideas and impulses as long as the they are created by artists standing for a certain society.
