RGUMENT203 - The following appeared in a newspaper feature story.
"At the small, nonprofit hospital in the town of Saluda, the average length of a patient's stay is two days; at the large, for-profit hospital in the nearby city of Megaville, the average patient stay is six days. Also, the cure rate among patients in the Saluda hospital is about twice that of the Megaville hospital. The Saluda hospital has more employees per patient than the hospital in Megaville, and there are few complaints about service at the local hospital. Such data indicate that treatment in smaller, nonprofit hospitals is more economical and of better quality than treatment in larger, for-profit hospitals."

At first glance, this statement seemed perfectly well-reasoned. It showed us that the average patient stay in large for-profit hospital in M is 6 days four days more that the nonprofit one in S. The cure rate among patients in S is higher that the other. Furthermore, the author emphasised that more employees working for a single patient in the hospital in S. At last, we are told there were more complaints about the one M. From these evidences, the writer assumed that the nonprofit hopitals offered better service and were more economical. However, when we think about these twice, we may notice that they did not effectively support the author's idea.
First of all, we can not conclude treatment in smaller, nonprofit hospitals are more ecnonmical and of better quality from the average length of patient's stay in each hospital. It may caused by the reason of that the patients who choose bigger ones are in worse healthy conditions. They need more special and professional treatments. So it is obviously that these people may stay longer. And maybe the cost in smaller, nonprofit hospital  is higher than the bigger for the medicine are much more expensive.
Secondly, the cure rate reflects nothing about thier treating levels. As the same reason given in the second pararaph, the patients in the hospital in M were almost in the worst conditions. It is more difficult for doctors to cure these dying people. For other reasons, we don not know whether those patient are really cured. Perhaps, their illnes were just not as serious as before misled them feeling better. For these two sakes, the cure rate should not be a key factor.
Thirdly, the number of employees has no relationship to the better treatment. Why the smaller hospital in S hired more workers is because their installations are not as advanced as the one in M. Therefore this action make sense to help them improve efficiency.
Fianlly, these two example may not well reprent the whole situation. Probably, in other areas, the result may totally opposite.
For these all, the author failed to bolster his or her assumption. To well-reasoned, there should be evidence showed that the patients do spend less and get well treatment. Then, moreover, it should tell readers that these two hospitals are at the same level  in basic facilities. Thereby, the numeber of employees maked sense. To the best, the examples should be representatives which can convince readers.
