As to one's lifetime, the choice almostly runs through from the beginning to the end. The lack of choice seldom happeneds during our survival, which I fundamentally agree with the speaker, though there may exist a few situations in which we indeed have no choice. Besides, I maintain it is the choice that promotes the growth of each individual.

Admittedly, natural catastrophe is one of the exceptions that we have no choice once encounter with. A earthquake, tsunami or a volcanic eruption, none of which cannot be controlled and predicted precisely where and when they occur by us. Take the Hatian Earthquake as an example, a poor country which even could not provide basic conditions for the citizens, suffered from such a terrible and destroyed disaster. The residents living in or around the center of the earthquake focus were just doing ordinary things without realizing a catastrophe was on the road. Did they have any choice of running away or taking action to protect themselves? Emphatically, no. All of this just happened too soon and only some of the lucky ones may have the choice of waiting to be saved. In addition, another facet that we have no choice is at the beginning of our life. Could we choose where to born, which family to live with, or the physical healthy condition? Commonsense tells us those kinds of thing are more likely to be called fate, which cannot determine by ourselves.

However, more than the fate or nature, the choices made by us are largely responsible for our development as human beings. From a little child to grow into an old person, each of us are going through a life consists of various choices. For instance, an ingenious student tends to choose a famous college with outstanding reputation, a sophisticated businessman are more likely to deal with the large companies which can bring investment to his career, a young man who always depends on his family may choose to buy a house near his parents. To a society as a whole, its developmental direction could also be conduct by the leaders or numerous groups of people who have the authority or power. Among a large myrid of alternatives, everyone has the opportunity of making choices according to his/her own mind and pursuit, and every society can be defined by the choice made by the people of it.

Then why there are always so many people complain that they have no choice, but to do something? Something that may hurt others, separate themselves with their families, or pose a threat to the overall society. For example, the murderer who kill others for robbing the money argue that they have no choice since they have no cash to pay a meal but wait to die. Are those people worth our sympathy? Definitely, no. Contemplating the words they say and the incidence they do, it is not hard to imagine they do have many other choices for their life. Their excuses are untenable for they could also try to find a job which they are up to, then through their diligent work to earn money. So when people think they have no choice, actually, they have many alternatives waiting on the list. Some of them just want to find a short-cut way to achieve their goals or under the unnecessary pressure which may impose them to do something they do not desire.

In conclusion, the absence of choice for us is very rare, as I advocate, and most of the time, we are the directors of our own fate.
