While to support the development of such a global university is undoubtedly a good idea allowing for the fact that the world's most persistent social problems can only be solved by cooperation, this idea is, in fact, hard to resolve these global social problems as it is designed to because of the imbalance and difference in the development of each countries.



It is understandable for the speaker to propose to favor the development of a global university in order to cope with the worldwide enduring social problems. For one thing, building such global university where students and scholar all over the world gather together and come up with more diverse as well as variant ideas and solutions. These thoughts and approaches are far more superior in their feasibility, effectiveness and efficiency to the ones thought of by any students or scholars from each country as they are the products of the joint efforts of the ever best scholars with different academic backgrounds and expertise. For another, it seems that the world' s most persistent social problems are those with the ever greatest complexity so that they can never be solved by any individual countries.



Although it seems necessary to build a global university to engage students to deal with the world 's problems, the reality may be so cruel that the establishment of such global university might not achieve its goal eventually. Despite the fact that all these world 's most persistent social problems are concerning most of the countries in the world and some of them are even the most striking ones in some nations, the students from different countries which have their own distinct situations may not be so enthusiastic about finding all the global social problems. It can not be denied and avoided that students in such a global university will act basically on the behalf of their own countries so that they may not be really concerned about the problems with little or no relevance to their homeland countries. For instance, students who come from socialistic countries like China are less passionate about engaging in the endeavor to solve the problems bred by the fiscal crisis since their hometown is more or less unaffected by the depression. Another reason for students fail to be active in working to resolve these world 's problems is that they don 't consider the world 's most persistent social problems proposed by other countries as pressing problems to deal with right away. It is understandable that some poor countries ' students will think that allocate a huge amount of social resources to protect the environment is ridiculous and unrealistic and hence naturally lack the motive to do anything to solve these problems.



Moreover, there are some problems in building a global university as suggested by the speaker. One of these problems is the issue of determination of these world 's most persistent social problems. Among the hundreds of countries in the world, which countries are suitably qualified to assume the accountability to decide which problems deserve to be put on the schedule? It is highly possible that it is again those powerful countries that take the stage and turn this global university designed to resolve world 's problems to an institute subject to one or few nations and these worldwide problems become domesticated issues of certain countries. Another problem is that the solution which usually demand sacrifices from some countries  is hard to be implemented taking consideration the fact  that some countries are not going to compromise their own interest to contribute to a less relevant global issues .



In conclusion, although this idea to build a global university meant well so as to resolve global social problems, its feasibility and effectiveness should be cast to doubt since countries can not always agree with each other especially on those regarding their interest.
