As is known to all, ever since primitive man doodled on the wall of the cave in which he cooked and slept, what he drew have last its value for some time and will continue. When it had been discovered in modern times, we required someone to decipher and appreciate it. so do many other art. Critics and only critics act as role to the work. In my opinion, this particularity of arts' value call for a balance in which there are both artists and critics.
Critics are necessary in order to make us more effectively realize the value of objects, behavior and theories of art that are very popular in modern and widely spread through newspaper, internet and television. Have you noticed that some artist and his/her artwork became very popular in later ages rather than in his/her period? In my view, the reason of this circumstance is probably that some arts was beyond the understanding of people of that time. Fortunately, in this next century, the value of the arts would realized by a few critics who had a professional and developing insight. Thanks to the rediscovery of the critics, the arts could be relearn by us, kept and lasting rather than be lost.
Simply put, without critics, we would find ourselves fall in a dilemma with the arts which are particulary ambiguous. In this era of society and ideology changing rapidly, more and more bizarre and incomprehensible things are called as art. but oddity isn't equal to art. Could we deem that it is art only because of to understand it difficultly? The answer is "NOT" with obviousness. the critics act as the semipermeable membrane to distinguish good and bad of the value of art, in order to select the essence and discard the dross.
On the other hand, over-criticism may lead us to a wrong way in which we lose the fairness to appreciate the value of arts. there is no denying that some criticism is mixed with subjective understanding which may be fallacious. critics often are artists. Each artist has a individual ideology differ from others. This is the reason that a few critics treat some art by or exhibiting envy, prejudice, or hostility. As a result, this criticism is unfair and unconvincing. It is very important that a critic retains his/her fairness to appreciat the value of a artwork.
To summarize, as well as the artists create something of lasting value, the critics give us a key to enjoy the arts. Of course, neither of the two job can be dispensed.
