Do you agree or disagree that scientists should be responsible for the negative impacts of their discoveries?
With the developments of science and technology, the life of ordinary people has been gradually improved. Who impulse all of the development of society? Undeniable scientists play a critical role in the field. Therefore, I strongly disagree that scientists should be responsible for the negative impacts of their discoveries.
First of all, science discovery is just a kind of job; scientist is just a position in the field of science. Same with all others common job in the world, as a dedicated scientist who should do what he/she do. Like famers cultivate land, fishers catch fish, governors draft out law-----every kind of jobs as more as you can imagine---, scientist discover the world, do all of them should response for their working?
However, someone may argue that different with other jobs, the results of scientists’ working have more negative effects on people than others. Actually, that is really what I will talk about. On the one hand, contrasts with the negative affects scientists bring, I could say, the positive effects that scientists provide is much more. For instance, with the research of genetic engineering we have been able to save millions of lives by developing vaccinations, cures, and treatments for diseases that used to be considered fatal; as well as the probing in recycled resources enable humankind to solve the problem of global energy shortage. Energy shortage and disease are two most serious threats to human life. Via the help of scientist, all of them are settled in a certain extent. On the other hand, scientists have tried to avoid negative compacts in their progress of discovery. From 1974, given some potential harm for human, biologist Buerger had break off the study of DNA. That means scientists do make effort to consider negative compacts while they are engaging in a certain study of subject. Conclusion two main points I mentioned above, basic on both emotional and rational perspectives, scientists could be allowed to continue their study but not be devaluated by by-product of their study.
To sum up, for the purpose of discovery is aiming for improvement of human, scientists should do what they have to do but not stop study for worry about being request for respond for the negative effects.

Many teachers assign homework to students every day. Do you think that daily homework is necessary for students? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
How students could improve their study in an effective way? Based on different experience, some people hold this idea that there is no better way to keep (even accelerate) the rate of absorbing knowledge than doing home work everyday. However, others disagree. As a university student, personally I think homework is necessary, but not at every day.

It should be admitted that homework is an essential ingredient of process of study. Via the help of doing home work, students could establish their knowledge which students had learned at school and could ready for the next day’s classes. It could be seen as recharging their brain batteries.

However, over-recharged batteries could cut off the longevity of batteries——as a commonsense——, which means on the one hand, over-loaded homework could reduce the students’ enthusiasm of pursuing knowledge. The correlation between the over-load assignment and the drop-out rate is “surprisingly strong,” observed by the Beijing university researcher Jiang Chen in a study. Once students becoming tired of doing more homework, they will consequently tire of any kinds of study. My little brother is a vivid example. When he was in middle school, his English was very good, and his dream was to be a translator. However, everything changed with the appearing of a new history teacher. The teacher assigned a wealth of paper to student everyday. At that period of time, as I know, my brother had done work until midnight. A semester later, including my brother, there were 3 students who study in this class leaved school. “I really tired of being treated as a machine. Maybe I am not good at study anything.” His dream crashed. It means that over-loaded not only make the student anxiety but also diminish their desire in other subject, ventrally end up by the abortion of all of their enthusiasm.

On the other hand, doing homework everyday could result leaning by rote. The new knowledge which students are informed in school is limited, so generally speaking, if they get homework everyday, the definition of “homework” eventually becomes “the repetitive job”. The latest survey in my country indicated that 80 percents of students have overly been reliant on homework to absorb knowledge but stifled thinking. “I just need repeat paper with doing homework then I could get a good mark,” a student says. Those repetitions will neither improve the student’s study nor provide an advanced way for student’s study.


To sum up, assigning homework could be a better way to improve student’s work, but if enact it extremely, students would be likely to fall prey to over-loaded and leaning in rote.

How students could(这两个词调换一下顺序,could最好改为can improve their study in an effective way? 总感觉,对于独立写作,有明确的立场会使写作更容易。如果希望一个客观的态度,分析正反两面的话,反而会容易写的特别侧重某一种观点,使文章“偏沉”。一点拙见,望多包涵。感觉这篇文章文笔还是比较不错的,用了“过充电”的比喻,还举了一些生动的例子和具体的数据,有很多东西值得我学习。一起加油!
