Does the socialization level of the children determine the fate of the society and have we learnt how to raise children who can bring about a better society?The author claims that it is the socialization of our children that determines the destiny of our society while we have not learnt how to educate children to form a better society.I generally agree with the author while I feel that we have made progress in education although it is still inadequate.



Socialization,defined as the procress by which children learn behaviors for the society,
which ocurs at the very begining of childhood lasting for a long time(probably throughout one's life).Children can be socialized by a variety of forms of activities such as attending schools, playing with peers,conversing with parents,etc.All these activities from which children may learn to be cooperative,sociable,accommodating,etc can help them know how to behave properly in certain circumstance,which will drive the society into a humanity one.For instance,lack of healthy interaction with his peers,a child is inclined to be an eccentric,perhaps even an antisocial adult.According to a recent survey conducted by Chinese Academy of Social Science, 70% of the minor offenders share one feature that when they are still child they seldom play with their peers and are treated violently by their parents.Were those miserable teenagers socialized appropriately, most of them would have a totally different experience. Martin Luther King leader of the civil rights movement is another case in point.Influenced maily by the social background,Martin Luther King led that movement which utlimately atered the attitude of the mainstrem of society towards African American and undoubtedly brought about a better society.Nevertheless,besides socialization,there are still other factors such as raw intelligence,physical
condition,science and technology,that determine the destiny of a society. Raw Intelligence and physical condition being innate quality of human beings are to some degree the basis of the rapid  development of science and technology which contributes to an efficient and convenient social life. The advent of the Internet and telecommunication technology,for example,knits the whole world together in a web of phone lines and makes long distance conference possible by using videoconference equipment.



When it comes to our current education,we should figure out the goal of education first.In my opinion,we ought to teach the next generation not only job skills such as driving,computer programming,draftsmanship,etc but also to develop a sound personality including honesty,mercy,tolerance,responsiveness,etc for a better society means a society in which everyone is an adept worker as well as an innovative person,a society in which in which everyone is amicable to others especially the pariah and a society in which everyone is tolerant to different views even the opposite ones. Unfortunately,our current education place far more emphasis on job skills than children's mental development,which causes a series of social problems including juvenile delinquency,high divorce rate,rise in suicide rate and so on.For example,according to a report made by the sociology department in FuDan University,in the past 5 years the number of juvenile delinquency in Shanghai rises significantly, from about 5000 in 2005 to 23500 in 2009;the divorce rate increase 18.6% from 2.2% to 20.8% in the past 10 years.



Admittedly,the current education system is not flawless it do make progress though not adequate.People now have realized the importance of the teenagers' mental development and have ameliorated curriculum planning.Nowadays,our education system provide various of curricular; students can choose those different courses according to their own interest;more and more courses concerning our children's spiritual health appear and in everyday life people teach their child by all means to be responsible,munificent,obliging.When I was a child my parents always tell me that obligingness is a kind of merit,that you should give your hand to those who need help.



In sum,how children are socialized today is critical in determining the destiny of society although there are other factors which will also help determining the fate of our society.When it comes to the fact that if we have learnt how to raise children to form a better society, I tend to believe that it is true that we have not find the best way to bring up the next generation even if there is advancement in education system.
