I have one question. Why you suggested to finish pre-med first? Do I have to take pre-med first? My Major is clinical laboratory. And my graduate date will be Aug 2014, lol still far away ...

I suggest pre-med, beccause it is designed to enter medical school. Very streightforward reason. And as long as your GPA is great and high MCAT, sure biochemistry, biology and any other related major should be fine.
I personally do not think clinical laboratory a nice major. Not high payment and dead end career. But there are many other directions you can choose in US as a freshman, like rediologic technician or some job related cytology, which I forget its name.
for example, http://www.jefferson.edu/jchp/di/ So, you will be free to choose the major you like later. If you like normal normal laboratory technician job, it is OK. Although it should not be easy to find a job without green card and lower paid than others in th Hospital, but the life style is good.
And if you have excellent GPA, like 3.9+ or so, you sure can take MCAT and apply for medical school, dental school, or other professional ones. Without green card, you will need to to extremly good, but there is a chance. You have just started, so I wouls say you can try your best if you like this kind of job. It will be tough for girls, but I think girls are tough too. ^_^
Even besides these, there are still nurse, PA and PT majors in health care. If you can find a job, all these are well paid. Many people choose PA if they fail medical shool application, which is easier and still well paid. Also, D.O schools are easier than medical school, and graduates laos have the right to apply for residency after graduation and become a doctor.
All in all, you do not need to rush to decide your future yet. I would predict that you are still young. Keep working harder and have a great GPA, then you will have many chances to choose the one you like later.
Good luck. I will not be able to come here very often. So, you can refer to others about further questions. And after 1 or 2 years at US, you will know a lot more and have a clearer idea. |
