TOPIC: ISSUE56 - "Governments should focus more on solving the immediate problems of today rather than trying to solve the anticipated problems of the future."
WORDS: 624
In the development of society, we face all kinds of problems. In order to make us more subjective, we not only try our best to solve trouble just in front us, but also hope to prevent some possible problems in the future. In fact, both the right now and the future need our attention. But if a government's resources are so limited that it is not likely to settle them all, I would agree the ideal that we should focus more on solving the problem urgent today, just as the speaker says.
Taking preventive measures against the anticipated problems have much merits. As we know, many problems could bring disastrous harm to a society. If a government are able to forecast these problems and can remove the conditions which lead lead these problems in advance, a society are available to avoid the possible harm. In addition, even if some of the problems can't be prevented, a government and residents can be prepared for them and then minimize the lose to the least. The education system of a society is a most strong example of focus on future problems. Although the education of children and students has nothing to do with any present problems, a government as well as average residents pay much their the attention to it, for the education determine whether a nation or the world has qualified civilians in the future. Children's qualities such as their attitude to society, the reasoning abilities, their health condition decide whether we can anticipate a pretty and advanced society. In other worlds, children are society's future, thus we can never overemphasis importance of education too much. Another example involves China's family planning begun in 1970s. Maybe some western countries view this action inhumane and violating some basic rights of human being. However, it is understandable when we consider that if the measure has not be not taken that time, the whole country would have been exhausted not long time later since the unimaginable oversize population. So, in many situations, is is very necessary to pay for anticipated problems.
While we can't ignore the anticipated problems of future, the urgent problems in a society actually need more responsibility of present government. Usually, in development of society, there is no other ways to go unless we remove these barriers. Moreover, through solving the present problems, a government win much its support of voters. For example, governments are always try their best to diminish the unemployment. Since this is the best way to satisfy the residents and maintain the stability of a society. And by settling these problems one by one, a society goes on its way.
Maybe someone will ask, what we do if there is not enough money and vigor of a society to solve problems of both present and future? In fact ,it is significant question because that is the a common situation. In my view, the urgent ones need more our focus. In practice, what finally will happen in the future is not certain. And may possible situations are beyond our forecast. For example, in the 20th century, we can never expect that one day, the plastic bags could be called while waste, which is a large source of pollution. Otherwise, the plastic bags should be dismissed just at the very beginning. Also, we can not know whether it is possible that some serious calamity which leads all our future a dream, will happen anytime. So, what we should to care more are what are happening but not something will happen in the unknown future.
Overall, from what discussed above, the balance between right now and future is necessary. If this is not available, more attention of a government should be places on immediate problems. |
