As far as I am concerned, memorizing facts is important, but also insufficient for students in the learning process. Therefore(上句和下句的逻辑关系不完全是因果关系,要注意在一句中but后面是主要论点,所以memorizing facts的不充分没办法证明only facts不如memorizing重要), I agree with the speaker's claim that in fact, students who have learned only facts achieved little compared with those students who not only memorize that numerous facts that exist in human society or nature, but also endeavor to understand the ideas and perceptions that help explain those facts.(这一句显得有些混乱,首先看题目,逻辑关系是只有学习ideas, trends concepts之后才能memorize factslearned only facts没什么用。

To begin with, memorizing facts is somehow aan indispensable part of students' learning process. Under many circumstances, due to the limitation of knowledge and perspective, hardly could student be capable of clearly understanding the ideas and concepts that help explain facts they observed. Therefore, memorizing those facts seems to be a viable option for those students who eagerly desire to accumulate their knowledge. For example, before they can understand the complicated molecular structure of water, students should memorize the fact that water is composed of oxygen and hydrogen, and 100 Celsius is the boiling point of water. Similar, lacking adequate knowledge about astronomy, students could first memorize the fact that earth revolves around sun prior to their understanding of physics theories that could interpret this fact. From this perspective, I tend to disagree with the speaker's claim that students should not memorize facts first.(经过分析题目可以看出,这一句不是作者的观点,你的意思是说facts对学习有利)

However, solely memorizing facts is obviously sufficient for students to make huge progress in the learning process. Because lack of understanding of ideas and concepts that help explains those facts serves to restrict students' creation and lower their critical thinking ability. What is more, if they encounter more intricate problems and perplexing situations, they will become confused since what they noticed and observed might be inconsistent with the "fact" they memorized. An apt illustration of this point is that students are often taught that when the price of a good goes up, its demand will certainly increase. This traditional concept about the relationship between price and demand can be accepted as ¡°fact¡± by students whose daily experience can prove easily prove it. However, this concept is challenged by an another fact that when a producer cut down the price of a certain good in order to boost demand, it fails to achieve that purpose since the consumers might thought that that good has relatively poor quality so its producer needs to sell it at low price, they are unwilling to buy it and thus its demand actually dropped as a result. Therefore, if students simply try to memorize the "fact" that seems to be indisputable, they might learn little and unable to solve real problems.(就这一点来说,你混淆了factsideas的概念,如你举的例子,供求关系,这不是fact,而是ideafact恰恰是你遭遇到的experience。我明白你的意思是教条主义束缚了学习与经验,但key word的混淆使你的分析大打折扣)

Thus, in order to be truly effective in the learning process, besides memorizing those facts, students should also attempt to deepen their understanding the ideas and concepts behind the surface. For example, having truly understand Isaac Newton's "Law of Gravity", students can easily explain some natural phenomenon they observed, like why water falls down to lower place and why planets have satellites. Also, by understanding Darwin's theory about Natural Selection, students can understand why the genetic mutation widely occurs among all species.

In sum, I maintain that in order to make true progress in the learning process, it is of great importance for students to memorize those facts in the first place, and to understand the ideas and concepts that help deepen this understanding and utilize it to explore those unknown territories.
