TOPIC: ISSUE50 -"In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college anduniversity level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outsidethe academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach."
WORDS: 529

I agree with the statement that faculty should spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach,to some extent,it does
improve the quality of instruction. However,it is unnecessary for "all" the faculty to do so,because it involves several effects, either.

It is appearently that if the professors spend time working outside the academic world, such as inthe general office in colleges, well benefit students a lot.We always hear about students complain about the lectures given by a famous professor are too111obstruse111 for them to understand. It is common in universities, because a good researcher may not be a perfect teacher,as they are always immersed with their academic researches and merely have time to talk with students, thus most times they incline to unfairly treat students as the kind of people as geniusas themselves, which makes their lectures become difficult to understand by most ordinary students. What's more, because lack of enough understanding about the students' practical needs, they may think the goal of their education is only tomake students become brilliant scholars as they are,but it is not the case. If those faculty work outside their academic world, they will have more chance to keep the pace of the time, have better understanding of the majority of students, knowing more about their needs and their problems.Of course we can expect that such experience will push them toadjust their teaching plans to match the practical conditions, thus improving the quality of instruction at the college and university level.

However, the value of a professor is not only limited to give lectures, the emphasis should always be paid on scientific research. To value a scholar's works, the only indicator should be how many contributions he made in his fields, not how many "As”he mark.

Let's consider the negative effect of this:many faculty, especially those most talented, may not be good at management or other positions besides their academic world. If they spend toomuch on other professions,on the one hand, different kinds of people have different occupations that are best suitable to them, and switch to another occupation may not be easy for those who have no experience in such kinds ofjobs. The faculty may not perform well in those professions and cause some troubles.
On the other hand, spend too much time on those professions  will inevitablely distrub their major jobs, even destroy their talent. We can see many talented professors who have reached numerous achievements in their special field, finally get nothing after they have involved in administration positions. Moreover, there is a trend nowadays that many professors become managers or CEOs of some corporations,or even start their own business that related to the courses they teach.I'm not saying it is not goodfor them, because everyone has the right to live his own life,if he has the required ability, why not make the life better? And they also can learn many new practical knowledge in their field through competing in the market, but such kinds of part-time jobs should never exceed their main jobs--being a professor.Unfortunately some professors may forget the fact that they work for universities, they are not professional businessmen, who only care profits.Let's see those who have made remarkable contributions to the world, for example,Einstein, has he ever established acompany to build nuclear plant? He devoted his whole life to physics, and that's why hewas so successful.

In sum,to beinvolved in several professions relevant to the courses that a professor teach do have advantages, but too much engaged may serves to the opposite effect. It isimportant for the faculty to find a balance between the academic world and outside world.Only in this way, they can able to make best use of their talent and improve both their own lives and the quality of instruction at the collegeand university level.

I agree with the statement that faculty should spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach,to some extent,it does improve the quality of instruction. However,it is unnecessary for "all" the faculty to do so,because it involves several effects, either.

It is appearently that if the professors spend time working outside the academic world, such as inthe general office in colleges,well-->it is benefit students a lot.We always hear about->that students complain about the lectures given by a famous professor are too obstruse->obstruct for them to understand.It->the phenomenon of which, however, is common in universities, because a good researcher may not be a perfect teacher.as They are always immersed with their academic researches and merely have time to talk with students, thus most times they incline to unfairly treat students as the kind of people as genius as->like themselves, which makes->leading that their lectures become too difficult to understand by most ordinary students. What's more, because of lack of enough understanding about the students' practical needs, they may think the goal of their education is only to makehelp students become brilliant scholars as they are,but it is not the case. If those faculty work outside their academic world, they will have more chances to keep the pace of the time and have better understanding of the majority of students including knowing more about their needs and their problems.(这儿觉得应该展开论述一下)Of course we can expect that such experience will push them to adjust their teaching plans to match the practical conditions, thus improving the quality of instruction at the college and university level.(这一段讲了work outside the academic world的好处,教授缺乏对学生需求的了解与教授work outside the academic world 有必然联系吗,后者能解决前者的问题吗?即使可以解决,但文中没有说出后者是怎么解决前者的,感觉好像前者和后者没有联系)

In turn if they spend too much on other professions,on the one hand, different kinds of people have different occupations that are best suitable to them, and switch->switching to another occupation may not be easy for those who have no experience in such kinds of jobs. Moreover, although there is a trend nowadays that many professors become managers or CEOs of some corporations,or even start their own business that related to the courses they teach,I'm not saying it is not goodfor them,because->after all everyone has the right to live his own life.If he has the required ability, why not make the life better? And they also can learn many new practical knowledge in their field through competing in the market. However such kinds of part-time jobs should never exceed their main jobs--being a professor.(为什么说的这么绝对)Unfortunately some professors may forget the fact that they work for universities, they are not be professional businessmen who only care profits.Let's see those who have made remarkable contributions to the world, for example,Einstein, has he ever established a company to build nuclear plant? The answer is no,he devoted his whole life to physics, and that's why he was so successful.
In sum,to be involved in several professions relevant to the courses that a professor teach do have advantages, but too much engaged may serves to the opposite effect. It isimportant for the faculty to find a balance between the academic world and outside world.Only in this way, they can able to->can they make best use of their talent and improve both their own lives and the quality of instruction at the college and university level.

第一段陈述1)spend time working outside the field 2) not all faculty should be work outside the field. 后文陈述了第一个论点,但是第二个观点却没有陈述,相反陈述了should not spend too much time work outside the field.感觉有点不太相符。
以上是一点愚见,仅供参考而已哦。整体上写的还是蛮不错的,明天就奔赴考场了吧,加油!期待凯旋归来哦~
