TOPIC: ARGUMENT161 - In a study of reading habits of Leeville citizens conducted by the University of Leeville, most respondents said they preferred literary classics as reading material. However, a follow-up study conducted by the same researchers found that the type of book most frequently checked out of each of the public libraries in Leeville was the mystery novel. Therefore, it can be concluded that the respondents in the first study had misrepresented their reading habits.

The speaker claims that the respondents in the first study about the reading habit of Leevile (LV) citizens had misrepresented their reading habit as the literary classics because of the follow-up study conducted by the same researchers found that the type of books most frequently checked out of each of the public libraries in LV was the mystery novel. However, the assumption about the reading habit study is unwarranted in several respects.

Primarily, the speaker fail to tell us about the exact number about the citizens who receive the study of reading habits and the precise field of the study, perhaps the number of the citizens are just 100 and the researcher merely visited one block of LV, they did not take a all-around survey to study the reading habit of the LV citizens. Or the study is located around the intellectuals who prefer the literary classics as reading materials.

Secondly, The speaker unnecessarily connect the types of books most frequently checked out with the reading habits of LV citizens, more information about the types of books in public libraries of LV are needed to verify the conclusion that the types of books most frequently checked out in public libraries reflect the reading habits of LV citizens. perhaps the bookcases in public libraries are occupied by mystery novels, citizens have no choice of choosing books, or most of the literary classis which are worth reading stored in private libraries, and the researches fail to embrace these data into this study.

Thirdly, The next study about the books checked out in public libraries cannot directly prove the current reading habits will last long. Perchance this study resulted in a temporary fashion of a nationwide mystery novels favor, and it will cool down in several weeks while the researchers coincidently start the study in this period, It will be unilateral to take this research result into consideration.

Finally, the speaker hastily asserts the conclusion that the respondents in the first study had misrepresented their reading habits, researchers miss to consider the condition and the environment in which respondents were interviewed, as a common sense that the reading habits reflect the taste of us. Perhaps the respondents are companied by his children, the answer of reading habits subconsciously construct a great and resplendent figure in the eyes of his/her children. They didn't misrepresent their reading habits; on the contrary, they lied to the researchers in order to pretend a better taste in public.

In conclude, to strengthen the conclusion, more information about the number of respondents and the field of the study should be offered, in the next place, the approaches of LV citizens to get books are required studying for the purpose of having a broader sight. Thirdly, human nature must be taken into consideration to prevent a dishonest answer from happening.
