The subjects and lesson contents are decided by the authorities or central government. Many people suggest that teacher should decide those contents themselves. To what extent do you agree or disagree.


Education have always been a hot topic .Especially nowadays, people are more free to have their voice heard and more willing to express their own individual personalities. So, what should be taught in school is concerned by arguing what’s best teaching contents. When I first thought about this question, I was puzzled too. But after deep consideration , as far as I concerned , it’s better for the students and the whole administration if the teaching items are decided by the government or authorities because the advantages of doing so obviously overweight the disadvantages.

First, government and authorities could have a better understanding of the basic requirement. No matter government or authorities ,the role they play is the leader, so they can get from the general what’s the situation is ,which decided what the students need most. Taking the English course setting as an example. In the past, students in different cities here in China stared to learn English at different grades and levels because there was no general united English learning materials at that time. As a result , the government notice this situation and organize experts to make the books for students all over the countries to unify and standardize the leaning and teaching. With this measure, nowadays, all the students in China have a better condition to learn English now.

Second, government and authorities are more professional that individual teachers. The contents students use need to be perfectly correct .However , not all the teachers have the ability to be absolutely right. Meanwhile , the government could gather the best professors and experts to write the books to guarantee this. What’s more, different teachers means varied understandings to one problem. Such as, usually answer B is correct for one teacher but incorrect for another . When this occasion happens, the student are mislead. So, the content given by the authorities is so necessary due to its few misunderstandings and guarantee the teaching qualities as well.

Last but not the least, even the contents are decided by government, it doesn’t mean that teachers are useless. A class can not be called a class without the teacher. The importance of teachers can not be replaced. With different teaching skills , teachers also can make themselves outstanding even what’s in their hands are the same. Such as some teacher prefer to teach outdoor while others like to use some digital tools to make the class vivid.

To sum up , it’s reasonable and necessary for the government and authorities to decided the contents . However, the role of teachers can be ignored. A successful education is the combination of the two factors. Only in this way can education career really make its great effect on human society .
