Is the cideo camera such an accurate and convincing method to record our contemporary life? Are written records no longer of significance in contrast with the video cameras, as the speaker contends? In my view, however, I fundamentally agree with the speaker's threshold assertion that the video camera does play a vital role on recording. While on the other hand, the importance of written records as a traditional form of documentation can not be overlooked.

In the first place, we must admit to the positive effects video records have brought to us. With the advent of advanced science and technology, our society is replete with brandnew and highly efficient equipments or facilities, which in a broad sense carry tremendous conveniences to us human beings, and the video camera being one. In the contemporary society, nearly every aspect of our life has the vestige of video camera recording. Consider when it comes to the security department of any company or institutions,
video cameras are equipped in the corners so as to monitor any suspecious persons or behaviors, in which case camera recording presents us a vivid image and in the meantime saves us a plethora of time and staff. What's more, utilizing video cameras in legal proceedings, for instance, this form of documentation supplies audience with an objective and convincing witness as well as a sense of acquiring direct and firsthand information. The various advantages of such documentary form involve its portability, environmentally-friendliness, directness, mobility, vividness, and so forth. Nonetheless, we must also acknowledge the undesirable aspects that written records have. The facts that written records might take a smack of the author's subjective ideas and that some vivid scenes can hardly be presented simply through one's words have immediately dawn on me. In this respect, I should be in favor of the speaker's assertion about the role video recording plays in daily life.

Yet, while acknowledging various advantages video camera recording have, we can not overlook its inevitable undesirable characteristics that accompany. The utilization of video cameras should always be taken the financial analysis into account. Consider if an director or editor can barely afford to purchase a video camera to shooting the very scenes he/she wants even though the person is quite acquainted with the desirable advantages cameras possess. In addition to its high cost,
it is inevitable that cameras have a short span of recording. For instance, an author could conjure up or record scenes which spanned from the first settlers to the New World to the election of President Barack Obama. Yet camera recording does not possess such a feature. In effect, camera could merely record a very short period of events that take place. Moreover, cameras, on the other hand, with only images presented to audiences, can seldomly give a summary to the overall circumstance or condition. In these perspectives, we must regard video recording from a critical point of view, and weigh the benefits as well as the foibles it might carry.

Nonetheless, written records, as a conventional means of recording human life, do have the specific advantages, in which case clearly outweigh those of video camera recording. Suppose an auditor has to collect data, or a scientist has to conduct experiments with sufficient statistics, how could one achieve his/her goal without any written records? When it comes to dealing with the feelings from one's innermost beings, an author or editor is able to give a full account of those feelings with accurate and elegant words, which the other documentary form has no capacity of accomplishing. Moreover, we must also count in the availability and low costs of written materials when weighing the benefits, not to mention the convenience when one should take these materials. Apart from that, whenever an inspiration or intuition occurs to one person, he/she is able to wirte down even without any video camera available. Thus, we can barely neglect the enormous desirable effects and features written records have.

In sum, I reckon both video camera recording and written recording are of high value when utilized in giving a full account of the contemporary life. Perhaps the most ideal way to vividly and comprehensively convey the particular scenes in our daily life is to combine both methods together.
