No one could deny the principal competiveness of a college and university is high quality instruction and education. The more excellent and practical instruction provided, the more students will be attracted and benefited from it, then the higher reputation of a college may achieve. Thus, I agree with the assertion that all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach in order to improve the quality of instruction, which clearly presented through the content of courses, the teaching methods and suggestion on students' career.

As we live in a world where knowledge is accumulating by multiplying and increasingly specialized, the knowledge taught in a college or university is inevitably out of date. Take the textbooks for example. Studies have shown that the content in textbooks lag behind the reality development as long as 5 years on average, some "classical" textbooks like Biology Science Introduction or Computer Science General printed decades ago still in use in some universities. Such knowledge is not only qualified to attract students' interests, but also useless and occupy students a lot of time. Therefore, if professors and other faculty recognize such server problems, their practical experience can work as supplement. They can bring in the cutting edge research application, which can lead students to combine the knowledge and extent their horizon. Without spending time working outside the academic world in professions relevant the courses, the faculty cannot sufficiently supplement the shortage of knowledge textbooks.

Moreover, accompanying with the traditional knowledge, old teaching methods is another deficiency of improvement of instruction quality. When faculty do some practical jobs relevant their teaching areas, they can utilize some new teaching tricks to motivate students. For example, more and more business courses are taught through brain storm, for professors adapting it from the effective decision making process in modern companies. Instead of old teaching methods, such as rough presentation, paper assignment, and professor-oriented teaching, new ways emphasize teamwork and student-oriented, which are the requirements to be qualified employees. So faculty should take part in the real relevant jobs in order to update the teaching methods.

In addition, it is undeniable that the main purpose of people attending college or university  is to get a descent job, if their teachers work in the fields they want to enter, they not only can get systematical career direction but also have easy access to get internship opportunities which will benefit them greatly.University sometimes is compared with "Ivory Tower", for the trained students hardly fulfill the demands of employers. Students lack proper identification of themselves and necessary preparation for their career goal. For example, a Journalism student who would like to be a correspondence are not capable to use camera and photo processing software which are not provided in his or her courses. If his or her teacher work as a reporter, or have experience of that he can make better preparation and have a clear career path. Also, teachers with practical interpersonal relationship can help their students to get latest internship opportunities.

All faculty should be required to work outside, however, seems a little too strict for some abstract subjects, typically philosophy and mathematics. For faculty on such kinds of subjects, theoretical advancement and academic outcome should weigh upon practical experience. In a word, generally all faculty working on real relevant jobs do improve the instruction level of a college and university.

It is a controversial question that whether all faculties in college and university should spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to courses they teach in order to improve their instruction quality. To analyze the question, we should consider it form different aspects.
First of all, we should regard the different propose of education in different university and college. As we all know, some university, like Cambridge, oxford, are more emphasis the academic knowledge level, and they want to cultivate their student do be the leaders in different domains. Therefore these schools will more emphasis on research ability and the organize ability but less regard whether their students, after graduate, would be a skilled workers in factories or work offices, however the world can’t only have leaders. There must be some students to be skilled worker after graduate. So those university and college whose target are aim to educate students to be skilled workers and engineers should let their faculty to go outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach, only by this way can faculties in these school get experience and skill to teach their students. Image, if a driving teacher can’t drive, how can he teach a good driver? If a cooking teacher can’t cook, how can he educate a head chef? Or if a teacher never writes a computer program, how can he educate an outstanding programmer?   
Moreover, if we regard the characters of different subjects, we will find out that some subjects are requiring experience while others are not. Mechanical design, civil engineering, computer science, art and so on are subjects that require experience, for example, mechanical design is a such kind of subject require designer’s experience and horizon which can only practice, usually all now graduated student work in factory will be required to work on the manufactory line for several months in order to train them to obtain skills and experiences, however, physics, mathematics, theoretical mechanics are more emphasis the theoretic knowledge, all the students of these subject should is just to hold pencil or face computer to deduce their functions and equations. Consider how can a mathematics teacher improve his teaching quality by spend time working outside the academic world?
At last, the author mentioned that it is necessary that all faculties should go outside academic world. But in my opinion, “all” is unnecessary, for not all teachers in a school are teaching the courses that need experience, if a teacher just teach these courses that needn’t experience, spend timer to go outside the academic world is just a waste of time.  
In conclusion, whether faculty should go outside the academic world is all depend on the school he teach in and the subject he major in, meanwhile, in my opinion, it is unnecessary that “all” faculty should spend time working outside.

Should all faculty essentially be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach? In asserting that we can never give a simple answer entirely by "yes" or "no". The speaker implies that it is the proper and necessary way to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level. While it seems to go too far to generalize this claim to include all faculty as the speaker's assertion. It primarily depends on the specific academic area.
Whether faculty's engagement in professions outside the academic world can bring a positive influence on the improvement of the quality of institution at the college and university level? Perhaps we should first figure out the purpose of education. As Martin Luther King said, the broad education will, therefore transmit to one not only the accumulated knowledge of the race but also the accumulated experience of social living. Thus, to put knowledge into practice to keep breast with the changing demands of society, in my opinion, is one of the chief aims of education. Unquestioningly, the job outside can make faculty obtain more practical experience and know the demands for their disciplines from society which in turn informs students to be more sensible about the practicablity of what they have learned. Based on the understanding of the needs of society, the faculty can highlight the role of social life, subjective experience and enhance the application of theories in their classes, which helps to guanrantee the students to have the ability to deal with the difficulties in their future jobs and keep pace with the society. To a large extent, the function of what students have learned in college and university is to meet the needs of future society. For example, the classical liberal arts curriculum of grammar, rhetoric, logic and arithmetic was developed because these building blocks met the needs of this form of society. While faculty will be able to help students keep breast with the changing demands of society by spending time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach. As far as we can see, it is one of the most valuable parts in education.
However, it is too hasty to require all faculty to engage in outside working jobs. Some less practical displines, such as art, physics, philosophy, mathmatics and other theoritical science, fail to be taken into consideration. These specific academic areas primarily aim at seeking the beauty, the profoundness and the unknown, which need deep thinking, analyzing and deep understanding of these fields of study instead of the experience outside. For these disciplines, working outside seems to have little to do with the academic research and educational purpose. For example, a physicist, who is in charge of the universe exploration will not make his research to go any deeper after he spends a long time on working outside, including the reason that there are only a few jobs related to this profession.

The quality of instruction at the college and university level is related to the quality of faculty. High quality[ies] of faculty, including broad[wide range of] knowledge, far-sight[far-seeing,sight好像不必用连字符], patience, strong skills and so on, lead[s去掉] to high quality of instruction. Working outside the academic world could probably raise working skills of instructors; however, it is not [the][an] unique way to improve the quality of instructors. Moreover, it may cause decline in the quality of instruction. [观点稍显模糊,建议第一段不要太多细节,如broad knowledge等列举]
We can't[学术规范,不用缩略] repudiate the fact that working in professions[?] is benefit[vt] [to] instruction. Instructors will know the course they teach better.  Working outside the academic world could help instructors know the condition of the professions relevant to the course they teach in the society[? university]. Moreover, people who always work or do research in academic world often lack of passion[这个观点显得极端,如果要用给出你的理由]. However, in many aspects, the disadvantages of working in professions overweight the advantage. We have to acknowledge that teaching or researching require single-minded[后面应该加名词] especially in academic world.[a] Person who has broad knowledge and adequate experience, nevertheless, lacks [of] patience nor enough time to do research is not able to [be] competent[adj.] the position which plays an important role in instruction of college and university. [病句,双主语,lacks & is]Though some member of faculty could success[succeed] in teaching and researching while they do some work outside the academic world, the majority of people who make difference in academic are addicted [to][in] teaching and researching instead of working in professions in society. It is obviously that single-minded is more important and efficient [to][for] faculty to improve the quality of instruction than doing work outside the university that probably increases their experience and passion in a certain degree. What is worse, doing part-time outside the academic world may lead to [abdication of instructors][表达不自然]. To sum up, the disadvantage of that[指代不明确] is[are] serious.[ single-minded究竟如何重要没有说清楚;single-minded比在外面工作是更有效的提高教育水平手段也只有断定,并没有给出理由。]
Except working outside the university, there is a lot of way [there are a lot of ways]to improve the quality of instructors and instruction. For example, we could strength communication among faculty[,] increase budget of instruction[; ]give more benefits to instructors and so on. [想用什么标点呢?你的举例也全部用的是抽象词汇,很模糊啊~]Comparing with making faculty to work outside the university, these methods may be more efficient with less byproduct.[?tell me why~] So that working outside the academic world is not the necessary or best way for faculty to improve their instruction.
In summary, in order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university, working outside the academic world is not the best way to faculty. Instead of that[Instead], they[指代] should pay more attention to teaching and researching. Universities should also try to do[?没有这样的强调] give more support to instruction. The more they care about, the higher quality of instruction at college and university level would be.
