Twenty years from now, people will have more free time(leisure time) tham we do now。
Personally, I don't think 20 years from now, people will have more free time than we do now. Here are my opinions.
There're no doubts that we’re now living in a more developed world than our parents 20 years before. Nowadays, people can easily do laundry, cooking and cleaning... all these things can be done by special designed machines which definitely make our lives much easier than ever before. However, do we feel we have more leisure time than our parents? I doubt about that.
The competition we faced is much more severe than 20 years ago, and it could be worse 20 years from now. For example, nowadays job hunting is a very tough thing according to the slowdown economy and the changing circumstance, there're too many people in the job market and too rare opportunities. Even when you luckily find a good job, you couldn't enjoy leisure time as you wish, you have to put certain amount of time to keep the job, otherwise it will be taken by others who could give more time and more energy on it. As we all know, many people “volunteer” to work at weekend simply because others did the same, they actually long to anything other than enjoying a fully and completely weekend. 20 years from now, we can estimate the population, however what we can’t estimate is the competition we faced would or would not be more stressing.
Besides the competition issues, we could also face much more choices 20 years from now. Making choices is not always a pleasure thing for everyone, especially when you have to make vital decision or have to do it on daily bases. We all have those days when you just don’t know what to eat, there’re so many choices before you and you just couldn’t figure it out! 20 years before, you probably just be happy to enjoy a home make meal, there are not so many restaurants and we all eat at home and talking with families, enjoy the dinner time. But now things changed, the white collar class seldom have the time to make each meal at home and they spend most of their times on work. So, I don’t think 20 years from now, things would change to another direction.
To sum up, looking back the road we’ve already taken, I can’t say 20 years from now, people will have more leisure time than we do now, however I do believe by boosting industrialization and technique development, people can live a better lives, meanwhile, how to balance works and entertainments is the brand new issues we have to keep in mind. |
