The value of history study usually relate to the importance to our daily life. In this statement, the speaker holds the view that only by the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives can measure the value of the study of history. In most cases, I agree with the author’s opinion that according to the extent of relationship between people’s daily life and the history study can show the value of the study of history. But the importance of a history study cannot value only by the extent that it is relevant to daily life, there are other aspects that have effect on the value of the study of history.

I content that when the study of history has a close relationship with our daily lives, the value of this study will seems to be quite huge. Because these kind of study can change our daily lives and may offer a better future of our lives. Such as the study of the environment of a place from ancient times to now days. In this study people can have a clear understand about the climate change in this area in the past time and may learn about the environment in this area well which may also contribute to having a forecast of the environment there. What’s more, people can intervene potentially dangerous of the local environment in time in order to avoid environmental degradation. It is obvious that people pay more attention to their daily lives than others and anything that has a close relevant to people’s daily lives or can has effect on their daily lives may seems to be more valuable and important which may for the reason that living is an instinct of human beings. Everyone wants to have a better life or at least living a litter better.

However, even when the study of history is relevant to our daily lives and may also have a deep effect on them, we may unable to find out the value of this study because of our lacking of knowledge. For instance, in the early 20th century only a little people believe that the study of history on the past environment has the value and they don’t think this study of history has practical significance. But now, people agree that this study is valuable, especially when it comes to solving now day’s environment issues. In this example, the value of the study has changed not for the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives but the view of people on the environment problems. Because people now attach importance to the environment, the study on environmental history seems valuable and has a close relationship with people’s daily lives. From this perspective, the object of historical research has not changed; it is people’s views on this issue that have changed .And whether it has the value are also derived from these views.

Besides, if some study of history is not relevant to our daily lives, it cannot mean that this study is useless or valueless. The value of a study of history cannot only be measured on the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives but also should take others into consideration such as, the significance for the development of human society, and so forth. For instance, the historical study on the ancient’s diet seems useless to our daily life except to feed up our curiosities. But it is also a part of our culture and reflects social development.

To sum up, the study of history has value not only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives. As we cannot tell a precise extent that how much it is relevant to our daily lives. And people’s views on everything are not steady, it will change with ones’ knowledge and experiences growing..

There is no doubt that the study of history is valuable when it is relevant to our lives. But no all studies of history are so related to our daily activities. These kinds of studies are not worthless but have a leading role in other occurrences and ideas.

We can say that studying history makes life much easier. In science field, the outstanding scientists in the study of history not only provide us with their theories and treaties, but also let us know their thinking methods and their spirit of perseverance. For example, we can learn the thinking methods of Plunk, who abandoned Newtonian system and introduce quantum system. In addition, we learn the art trends as well as some famous music and paintings by the study of history. Some important people in history set good examples to us and we can learn a lot from their success and failures. Napoleon’ waterloo and Hitler’s final failure give us a new perspective towards life.

We can not deny that the study of history irrelevant to our daily life is not only valuable but also very crucial. There are some reasons behind that. Firstly, history has its principles and there’s an idea that many events in history will happen again in the same way. This is not superstitious for history reflects the process of the development of the world and thus the law is almost the same in different ages. Many events may happen in different ways, but their intrinsic law does not change and we can solve them in the same way. The depressions in economy are so similar, but just in different faces. Secondly, the study of history can be important guide to the governors, in which the change in dynasty can be put into several kinds. The governors can learn how to govern a country guided by the experience in history. China in the 19s century suffered a lot for the closing the doors and the Opium way can be a good example to the government for the moment. The rise in Great Britain is largely due to its industrial revolution and their attitude towards the development of science technology.

However, what we should keep in mind is that the seemingly irrelative history study is actually relevant because the environment and society we live in have an obvious or subtle influence on our daily life. Each person in history is not alone and is to some degree dependant on others, so the environment and relations between humans are not neglectable.

To sum up, the study of history relevant to our daily lives is only one part. History is crucial because it can shed important light on many events that occurred during humankinds’ existence. In addition, the seemingly irrelative history study is actually relevant because we are not alone in society. Finally, the history can help us make decisions in dealing with many problems because the thousands of events occurred in history provide us a horizon to what our world really is.

Admittedly, study of history in relevance withour daily life could give us a direct instruction of study and life from lessonsof our predecessors and ourselves. The history of our past let us to have areview of ourselves to summary the mistakes and prevent similar situations inthe future. History is an huge precious wealth from our predecessors, from whomcould we get much experience in the way of learning, behavior, the way ofcommunication with others, etc. We could also get some specific skills as howto ask questions, how to look for the answers and how to foster a logic, convincedand lucid thinking with a clear goal and critical thoughts.

While, what values the most in the study ofhistory is not the domain of daily life. On the contrary, the study of thewhole history summarizes a general regular pattern of the thoughts andbehaviors of human beings. It brings us a navigational map to direct us to thebright future in such a complex society with fierce competition and changingenvironment. Also, it gives some kind of instruction to keep us away fromsimilar mistakes. Those inspiring leaders, as foreseers, reformers and politicians,if they handle all of the materials from history, they could do much better onthe way of leading. Because it could tell whether something could be endure ornot, just like science and technology tell the engineer how much pressure coulda certain kind of material stands.

Besides, the study of history could be away of entertainment, especially for the ones forced by their curiosity. Those arethe ones that would throw themselves into history to find out the answers theyare looking for. After that, they would go further on how we get the knowledgewe have already known. To them, reading the stories of Socrates and Churchill isthe same with talking with them in person. Joining in their stories as part ofthem and getting a deep understanding of their thought both give a strong gratification and identity(认同感). The journeysearching for treasure of history is so interesting that nothing could be morevaluable than it. how could we say that this kind of study of history has novalue?

Moreover, during the process in studyinghistory could form our graceful and elegant behavior, penitent and completethought. The most important is studying history gives us a feeling of excitement,watching or being involved in what is happening around us that may become apart of history one day.

For the normal people, the study and research of history seems meaningless, and this kind of work should belong to the professors in the colleges. But if one wants to learn more knowledge, no matter in science or arts, he must keep a little knowledge of history. The study of history has its own value not simply only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily life.

There is no exact boundary between history and reality, and all of the reality is becoming history every second. As an ancient Chinese old saying goes “History as a mirror helps you see behind one’s rise and fall.”, making the use of the experience concluded from the history can lead us to avoid the same wrong ways and help us do better in daily life. The new kings learn more experience to govern the kingdom from the old kings; the students in today’s classes can study the textbooks by the best and fast way created by the ancient people. History plays an important role in our daily life, but the study of the history means more.

Let’s answer one question: what is “history”? From the word literally, we can infer that it is about the story of men. In ancient times, history was recorded by the historiographer assisting the king or the emperor to dominate whole country as reference. So, the history we learn from the books were all written by others, unavoidably some of which were amended in order to carter to the preference of the king or with the subjective judgment of the historians. Some of the truth is still buried under the flood of time.

With the truth buried, we are also creating the truth. Although many aspects of history are not relevant to our daily life, lots of people are fond of studying and exploring the history. The research of how the king Tutankam died in ancient Egypt is certainly not connected with the daily life of modern society, can we say that the research is worthless? No. When the truth make the history river flood into human being’s sights, a sense of satisfaction fills out the human’s spiritual life. In Hegel's system, art, religion and philosophy constitute the highest stage of human spiritual development, but these three are in common: they do not produce concrete and practical knowledge, but the expression of human experience of social life, in which they convey this experience of civilization based on the person's "spiritual consciousness"! Compared with these three, history might not as noble as they were explain, but history must have its own “philosophical state”, in which the loyal learners with passionate feelings will find their own spiritual gardens.

The essence of the historical study is to reveal the fact that once was missed and amended about the ancient times. It will be better that the experience and the spiritual power from the old facts can help people now develop our modern society.
