180. "Many problems of modern societycannot be solved by laws and the legal system because moral behavior cannot belegislated."

Thefactors that affect human behaviors are mainly about cost and revenue. The lawsadd some cost or put some extra revenue in the behaviors which are preached. Inthe other words, law rewards certain behaviors that help others’ lives whilepunish the ones which are interfere the freedom of other individuals. When thecost is much lower than the revenue, people will take risks. And more thanthat, some times, the morality has higher restriction ability.

Inbusiness field, people take business morality great granite while the laws. Indifferent period of doing business, morality plays important roles. At very beginning,a small company is eager to gain its reputation to operate itself continuously.Surviving is the first goal for them. They not only will not break laws butalso performance with highly morality to earn others’ trusts. When the businessgoes further, the company will have some certain goals to achieve. At thistime, the decision maker probably will take some risk to grasp someopportunities. To enhance the company, the original reputation and business partnerare the foundation. The solid basal structure will be the backup if the companywas damaged greatly. And then, the company achieve great successful, for yearshave they been responsible, on my opinion, they will keep the words they madeto present a great corporate image. In this case, law is not so important as weconsider.

Butfor those companies that take profits as their only principles, the law isnecessary. More than the contrast between companies, the relationship ofemployers and employees should be legislated. From the late news in China,there are more than 13 employees in Foxconn suicide. The reasons for this arenot simply one, but from the working situation they are struggled in we cannotice something. The workers are paid at the lowest rate of salary. To makeenough money to feed family, they had to take the extra hours of work whichwill double the salary at these hours. Most of them work more than 60 hours perweek. During the work, they are not allowed to talk to ensure the concentration.Standing beside the pipelines, even 1 minute rest to bend down is an extravaganthope for them. After work, they are too tired to have a talk. Loneliness andphysical pressure are the great loads. It is inhuman. There is should be a lawto protect the workers from these harms.

Thisalso offers us another thought, the law is uncompleted. Situations we are in,there are not laws to obey. Morality is our only choice. Hence, the law isuseful, but not always efficient. Other than that, new things and situationshappen everyday alone with the increasing complexity of society. On my opinion,the morality like consideration, justice and the sorts is more meaningful thanthe laws. The human behaviors can be legislated by law but not always possibleand efficient.

It can not be doubted that nowadays peopleare living a more and more complex and specific world. Even though it probablyis a great ordeal for us, it brings us a high level life out of dispute.Someone perhaps claims that increasing trifling things will drive him lost hismind. I agree. Large amount of trivial and the complexity of them did puthighly pressure for us. But in most of the situation, the complexity is aninevitable way to achieve best outcome.

When confronting a problem, at first, wehave to determine what the highest priority is. In the other word, whatoutcomes we are expecting for. When a serious earthquake happens like Sichuanand Chilly, what had the governments and international rescue organizations done?They try every effort to rescue every possible living no matter how hopeless itis. At that case, no one will consider if it is complex but save lives at anycosts. We can see a situation through television; experts get togetherdiscussing for hours and applying heavy-duty machinery to save one moribundlife. The life probably dies at last but no one will stop the complex rescue atthat case even though the result. People are never willing to give up any tinychance for the possibility. As I mentioned, the goal is the most important toguide our behaviors. If we really want a miracle happen, no matter how complexthe work we have to do, no matter the results at last, no matter how difficultit is, anything for chasing the goal is worthy.

Other than priority, the possibility isalso a significant element. Anything is a cause to later effects. Especially inlaboratory situation a little mistakes will lead to great disasters. In laboratory,scientist kept sample of highly infective pathogen to test aiming at protectinghumans from the harm. Certainly, the original intention is helpful and considerate.But suppose that, some day, the pathogens are released to the world, what willhappen? Since scientist pay lots of attention on them, the damage caused by thepathogen must be relatively serious. Probably a massacre will appear. In thiscase, it is never too complex to prevent the risk of the pathogen outflow.

Someone said, the basic subject is not asuseful as the application subjects. Nowadays universities paid less attentionon mathematics or humilities and some subjects like those. Yes, those subjectsare not obviously meaningful. But the researches on these ones can providetools for further studies on application. We should never deny that most of thescience study need math, politics needs humility. Sometimes, we do not knowthat complexities day may simplify later life.


On my opinion, it is not simple that wemake thing but efficient. What we pursuit was whether the goal is achieve whilethe process is simple. That is also called result oriented. To sum up, theitem, simple is based on the foundation of efficiency. The first priority isnot simple but efficient.
