EDUCATION
*Music and painting classes play positive impact on people bothintellectually and emotionally.
Albert Einstein
, for example, is both aprestigious physician and an outstanding violin player. Thinking back to hisearly experience learning music, he said that music had a significant influenceon his physic study, because it not only inspired his creative thinking butalso built his patient personality.

* Early education in music and art alsoallows children to discover and explore their potentials. Since talents inthese areas are often displayed at an early age, it is crucial that childrencan get an opportunity to pursue their possible bright future. Mozart, forexample, was a born musician. Thanks to his father, who discovered and trainedhim as early as when he was only two, he eventually became one of the mosteminent musicians in history.

*Art also plays an important role inbalancing people’s lives. It is a fantastic stress reliever. People underpressure need art to get relaxed. For example, after concentrating on study orwork for a few hours, people can play a piece of music or paint a picture, andthey can regain energy and get more refreshed afterwards.

* Art is as necessary as any other classesin school. Children are all different in one way or another. They may havebarriers that block them from achieving things many others can and thus theymay feel left out. But in art, there is no right or wrong answer. There is onlythought and expression. Passion and love can go into the art unlike any other.Art is one of the ways through which children can reach out and show their truepotentials. Taking art classes away from school is taking hopes and dreams wayfrom a child.

TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGY

* Most governments around the worldadvocate public transportation systems because they have a lot ofadvantages, chiefly among which are environmental friendliness and economicfeasibility. Private vehicles use gas and that cause the depletion of theincreasingly scarce natural resources. Besides, they also emit large amount ofpollutants to the air. Public transportations, especially subways, give rise tofewer environmental problems. Besides, the price of public transportationsgives easier access for transportation to more people. The convenience and lowcosts brought by the public transportations make it to become an indispensablepart of people’s life.

*There is an increasing trend that more andmore people will work at their homes in the future. The advent of personalcomputers, plus the breakthroughs in voice and data communication technologies, creates opportunities for office workers to decentralize. For example, theprevalence of telephone or video conference, satellite and remote-controltechnologies make it convenient for people to get in touch with others in allparts of the world. Home office is considered to be beneficial in termsof less commuting time, lower overheads and potential greater productivity.

* People’s life consists of differentphases. Early development in childhood, although crucial, does not necessarilyimply to their future. Children, still in the stage of forming theirpersonalities and interests, are just at the starting line of theirlives when they still have plenty of time and opportunities to make changes intheir future. Albert Einstein, for example, had an awful experience inhis elementary school. He was considered to be a stupid kid. However, his greatachievements in his later years proved that the unsuccessful childhood hadlittle impact on him. It seems that even an ugly duckling can have the chanceto mature into a graceful swan. Admittedly, some terrible childhoodexperiences may distort children’s personality, which may lead to tragicresults. However, life is a box of chocolate, you never know what youare gonna get. Since there are so many uncertain factors in the long journey ofone’s life, no periods could be ignored. We can clearly find that childhood ismerely one, but not the most important period in one’s life.

DIFFICULTIES
EXPERIENCES

* When god closes a door, somewherehe opens a window. I guess he does. Except sometimes it is hard to see beyondthe closed door. And end up getting hurt with a bump on the head, still beingstuck behind the door. But if we just look around we may see the light comingthrough the window. For those who are strong enough, difficulties may imply toopportunities. Anne Frank would not have accomplished her diary if shehad not been through the Holocaust. Beethoven may not have created “theninth Symphony” had he been able to work with his ears. Difficulties arelessons; obstacles are challenges; impossibilities are invitations.

*Some say difficulty is the worst teacher;it gives test before presenting the lesson. But we should also take note thatthe difficulties we experience always illuminate the lessons we needmost. Thomas Edison said, “I have not failed, I have just found 100,000ways that did not work.” Successful people consider experiencing difficultiesas a learning process. They reach further places by tolerating failures. If youask me, difficulties can certainly be a recipe for success.

*First impression----------Love at firstsight is a common trope in western literature. In Chinese literature, there isalso a phrase of the exact same meaning. This interesting coincidence tells usthat people around the world trust their first impressions to others. Althoughwe all tend to judge people by our first impressions, it is incredibly hard toknow the complexity of a human being in a few minutes.

WORK
* Our passion for work can easily get fadedway if we only work for money. When work becomes a daily routine withoutenjoyment, it cannot get people motivated anymore. I used to have an internshipexperience in an accounting firm one summer. The pay was good, but I felt verydepressed and I get tired easily, because the job itself is mundane and boring.I felt like a machine doing things simply for money.
A life with a meaningless job is nothing buthorrible. If you ask me, a job like that is a recipe for torture, bothphysically and psychologically.

*Some people work for money, while someothers make money work for them. Sometimes people tend to overlook the factthat money is not an end itself. Money is a means to achieve our ultimategoals, such as a sense of security, self-recognition, more spare time and thefreedom to travel around the world. Hardly can money alone ensure a life ofhigh quality. If we spend too much time on work, we will simply becomeworkaholics. We may have no chance to take a vacation, to enjoy ourselves andget relaxed. We may have to sacrifice time with our friends and family. If weburied ourselves into work simply for money, we may find it to be not so worthwhile.

* In the current times, there are more andmore legends of those self-taught entrepreneurs. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, theyall dropped off school and created tremendous success in the most cutting edgeindustries. Unlike book knowledge that may become outdated in some time, innovative thinking always keeps people up with the fast development of thecontemporary society. Apart from that, people with innovative thinking may evenlead the world toward vast changes and progresses. According to one of myfriends, a software programmer, the knowledge he learned at school are oflittle use after he has graduated, because a new version of software getlaunched at an interval of almost every twenty days. However, with innovativethinking, he is able to pursue a life-long learning process and thus getsupdated continuously.

* In today’s business world, competition isbecoming increasingly fierce. Thus, the strategy of innovative differentiationplays an indispensable role in business success. A creative strategy may makethe company stand out, bringing remarkable increases in sales and profitmargins. Take an example in the cosmetic industry, Avon, one of the most famouscosmetic producers, created a unique distribution system as direct sales by“Avon Ladies”. Avon encourages their existing customers to work as their salesrepresentatives, selling Avon products to their family, friends and neighbors.Having experiences using the products in person, words of these “Avon Ladies”are more convincing. This innovative marketing strategy brought about greatsuccess to the company. Companies that stick to only traditional operatingmethods are at a severe disadvantage to those that make effective use ofinnovative thinking.

* Great pressure and heavy responsibilityare often placed on a leader. A leader has to undertake a lot of additionalwork: motivate team members, settle conflicts, plan for the future and makeimportant decisions. When a project fails, the leader usually becomes theperson who undergoes most blame and critics. Thus, a leader has to have theability to counter stress and tolerate failures. Leadership challenges one’swillpower. However, I prefer peaceful work environment to chaos. Working on myown schedule and do not have to worry about controlling others is the mostenjoyable thing to me.

* A leader has to set stringent rules andplans, since regulations are crucial when leading a whole group of people. I dolike personal plans, they make life to be more orderly and they make peoplefeel motivated. Besides, my personal plans can be altered by myself whenever Iwant. I can have spontaneous thoughts or I can simply go with my guts. However, when the problem comes to making plans for other people, it becomes annoying.Coordinating, implementing, revising, and having feedbacks...Things become alot more complicated when more people are involved. Besides, setting rules toconfine others does not please me that much.

*I do not possess the strong personalitythat most leaders should have. A leader has to be tough to his memberssometimes. And I feel so not being myself when I am being tough to someoneelse.

*It’s sometimes impossible for people toattain their ultimate dream jobs instantly. For example, if one wants to becomea partner in an accounting firm, he has to start as an A1 (1st yearassistant,), then an A2, then a 1st year senior manager, 2ndyear senior manager, from there he may go on to become a manager, and he canonly become a partner after spending a total of 10 years or more in thisindustry.

SPORTS
* Health, obesity
*relax and relieve stress. In my school, there are usually lots of people playing soccer, basketball, badminton andpingpong after class. Selective courses such as yoga and Taichi are also verypopular.
*make more new friends. Playing sportsoffers students of different cultural backgrounds and academic focuses anopportunity to get to know each other. For example, I met one of my bestfriends from a yoga class. I am an accounting student but she is learningphotography. We may never get to meet each other if not for the sports. Sportscan lead to more extensive personal networks. Playing sports provides studentsa good opportunity to develop communication skills, broaden their horizons andgain comprehensive knowledge.

PROGRESS
*China’s economic growth is trulyremarkable during the past several years. However, various problems alsoemerged together with the economic progress. Price inflation comes with thesurging GDP; environment crisis are also calling for the public attention. Moreover, the development of China has brought about global political issues.China becomes a threatening power. According to the media, it threatens theworld economy by not appreciating its currency; it threatens world healthbecause its reckless use of antibiotics in the agricultural products, whichhave been exported everywhere; even the American unemployment rate, has beenthreatened by the Chinese productivity.

* Besides, the economic growth also givesrise to the global problem of extreme disparity between the rich and poor.Uneven distribution of wealth contributes to the enlarging gap between people. In San Paulo, Brazil, some extremely luxurious houses are just beside theghettoes. The Wall street Journal reported in 2005 that in the United States, the wealthiest 1 percent of people represented more than 20 percent of thenational income; while the bottom half of working Americans just earned apathetically 12 percent. This aggravating phenomenon of inequality in incomemay lead to other problems such as social security.

LIE
* Sometimes white lies can boost people’sconfidence and exert positive impact on people. When a kid performed badly atschool, his mom’s encouragement at this time can be very crucial to console thekid’s vulnerable heart. Or, for the case in the hospital, doctors sometimeshave to lie to serious patients about their conditions, since psychologicalstate plays a very important role in patients’ recovery progress. Anotherexample can be found in the famous education experiment, in which two groups ofstudents of the same level of IQ are taught in different ways. One group ofstudents had been told that they are extremely clever. In the end, the encouragementoffered by the white lie really made this group of students more eminent thanthe other group.

* Sometimes, white lies can be conceived asentertainments and surprises in life. White lies between friends can be funny. When I once asked my Brazilian friends about the rainforest and the diversityof animal species in their country, they made me believe that they had raisedmonkeys in their back yards; and that rich people in Brazil have pets likecrocodiles and elephants in the Amazon; and they even walk their crocodilesdaily! This kind of lies adds fun into our life, and they make it easier forpeople to get closer with each other. And there is the “birthday surprise”,when family and friends lie and pretend that they have forgotten about yourbirthday, but you receive this big party and numerous gifts in the end.Although it is a cliché, it always works well.
