The following appeared in a letter to the editor of the Clearview newspaper.
"In the next mayoral election, residents of Clearview should vote for Ann Green, who is a member of the Good Earth Coalition, rather than for Frank Braun, a member of the Clearview town council, because the current members are not protecting our environment. For example, during the past year the number of factories in Clearview has doubled, air pollution levels have increased, and the local hospital has treated 25 percent more patients with respiratory illnesses. If we elect Ann Green, the environmental problems in Clearview will certainly be solved."
时间比较紧张,直接上提纲了哈,莫怪莫怪
1.
The argument rests on the unreasonable assumption that the standard of major who we should voted just depends on whether she or he protect our environment.
2.
The 25% more patients with respiratory illness show might appear to lend support to the editor’s claim. However, it is entirely possible that illness does not relate to the pollusion.
3/
The fact that air pollution levels have increased in itself lends no support to the argument that Frank Braun are not protecting our environment. It is entirely possible that they protected but have not much effective.
4.There is no evidence that Ann Green will protect our environment better than Frank Braun.
