The speaker asserts that the study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives. I find this contention is totally unconvincing and dubious. The speaker unfairly indicated that the history can be neglected when it is not tightly related to our normal life which represents his unreasonable and pragmatic ideal. However,in my opinion,the research of the history provides inspiration, experience, and endless motivation to create a better human society, which is definitely valuable to our lives.

As a threshold matter, the study of greatest human achievements offers inspiration and encouragement. The students usually get passion by being involved in the history research to their own professional areas,such as theoretical physics, mechanical engineering, atomic chemistry and even astrology. In my personal experience as a student, I devote myself into the electrical engineering impacted by the amazing changes made by the great advancement of computer industry and chip technology, through which the entire world is connected by our imagination. In addition, to study some misery history events strengths our resistant ability to those unfortunate affairs. In short, the study of history always inspires us to make the world a better place to live and lift our daily life spirits.

Secondly,the study of history also makes us avoid enormous mistakes and unnecessary barriers in the evolution in our society. For example, history can teach us the appropriate methods addressing certain social issues,especially moral or ethic ones. Considering Mahatma Gandhi's struggling against the colonialism and tyranny of both British and Indian authority, the government and social groups put more concentration ensuring the basic rights of civilians. Considering Martin Luther King's efforts for equivalent status for the people whose skin color is black, the entire western civilization emphasizes the minor ethnic groups much than ever before.

A third benefit has to do with the study of history in the mainstream society which could educate the public to understand the ideal, culture and law of nature correctly so that the people could develop a more health personality. Observation of the past people ,especially the greatest ones, usually infers the successful communication skills, better socialization process, and practical working experience other than those negative emotions such as isolation and cynicism. For example, Bill Gates, one of the greatest modern entrepreneurs , indicated the followers the right pathway to balance the personal talent and university education.

Finally, the study of history represents itself as an academic meaning for the environment issue as well.It was a difficult process for the public to realize the communication with the nature and the importance of establishing a harmonious relationship with our planet. The case study of the Three Mile Island incident and Chernobyl nuclear disaster warns the authority to make these horrible accidents not happen again. The research of the oil spill incident and the thinning of the Earth's ozone layer also indicates that the environment impacts should be taken into consideration when new energy resource and technology are utilized. All of these examples of studying history provide value far beyond its impact on our daily life.

In sum, the statement fails to observe several critical aspects of the study of history. Perhaps history demonstrates no practical and profitable meaning to those who are not insightful. However, the most of the public has realized the significance of the study of history which provides endless improvements and unbelievable potential impetus for the mankind to contribute to a better society.
