学者和研究人员不应该关注他们的工做是否对社会有所贡献；他们追求自己个人的兴趣更为重要，无论那些兴趣看起来是多么不寻常或者多么特殊。

One of the universal issues that draw growing concern is which aspect should scholars and researchers focus on.
The speaker in the title claim that they should pursue their individual interest , no matter how unusual or idiosyncratic, instead of devote to those sphers that are most likely to benefit society.I believe
that they should find a balance between this two aspects for following reasons.

First of all, i must admitted that the interest is the best teacher, individual interest and the curiosity are the powers which the scholar and the researchers struggle unceasingly. If they have no interested on the researches what they are dedication, they will be difficult to achieve success.

Common sense tells us that we are motivated to pursue those activity in which we excel or interest by human nature, and if you have to do a work by compelled you hard to accomplish it perfectly even may cannot reach the standard. It like you are willing to sacrifice everything your lover, however, we respond the asking for help, by impassive if they are strangers.

To illustrate, my best friend Alex, once a sales man, he didn't like this job, no power, no passion, no ambition, and couldn't finish enough orders every month. In the end, he was fired. Nowadays, he is a white collar, in an accounting firms and he enjoy this job. Everyday he greets one day-long work by the positive attitude, promotes own professional ability uninterruptedly and excellent finish the task, that is why he will be rised to manager next month.

However, in the other hand, to request scholar and
researchers concentrate on own interest merely have some
defective. The first is that focus on interests or contributions to society is the scholar and researchers own choice, we shouldn't interfere excessively. It is important for scholar and researchers that a certain extent's freedom is helpful to the researches. Why do i think like this?

First of all, they are professionals, not us, we are not qualified to circumscribe their researches. In addition, with or without disadvantage, everyone doesn't wants others to oppose their point of view, especially the opponent is layman. For example, my parents don't understand English and have no idea about highly effective English learning plan, but they often doesn't approve my program, I am not satisfied to this. At last, recently, the investigation of a university indicated that 90% scholar and researchers don't want to be intervened when they are researching.

The second is that if their interest is immoral or have negative effect on society should we still consider that it is more important that they pursue their individual interests no matter how unusual or idiosyncratic? The answer may deniable. In general, cloning is the symbol of high-tech, however, sometimes it been criticized on moral and ethical. For eaxmple, the humans clone, so far many countries have banned the research of humans cloning. Why? It being a disaster, the moral principle will be broken.
From what has been discussed above, i feel that the scholar and researchers should think about both interest and society contribution, otherwise, possibly cause negative consequence. If not only can satisfy own interest but also to be able to make the contribution for the society, also they why not?
