69(the government should place few, if any, restrictions on scientific research and development)
In the contemporary world, scientific research play a vital role in every aspects in our daily life such as the transportation, education, medicine and communication.
There is a saying that the government should place few restrictions on scientific research.
First and foremost, the restrictions placed by government may be a barrier to the development of the science and technology. Because scientific achievements are always the latest things occurred in the world and thus may not be accepted by the majority. And if the government take it as a useless or even wrong thing, it possibly delay the development of this research. Take Einstein as an example, he discovered relatively theory which turn out to be one of the greatest findings ever since but not accepted by most people at that time.
Furthermore, when the researches go onto the opposite way against the political goal of the government, the restrictions may possibly become the means by the governor who do not want to see it happen. For example, if the main purpose of one government is to control and conquer the other country or nationality while the scientific research call on people to be peace with each other and resist the violence around them, it is likely that the government will intervene and break down the research.
And there exist a situation that the research needs help from the government when it lacks money and labor resources. Some scientific research in some fields like biology, astronomy, and new energy explosure need the most advanced equipments and the best materials to further their research. And what’s more, when the research results have been produced on a large scale, the people may still have doubt about this new product whether it is safe enough or not. The government should claim the safety and the convenience of new products if they really do.
Before I come to my conclusion, I would like to emphasis that sometimes the government should place some restrictions when the research have threatened
the human life. Like the nuclear energy was thought to be used as a new energy to solve the environment and energy-lacking problems. But some people use it to make nuclear weapons and threat others for their own profits. And another example also shows the opposite effects of the scientific research, the clone. It may benefits the medical and chemical research, but it undermine the traditional ethics of human beings, and it once aroused some public debates concerning should we let the clones come into our real human world.

In sum, the government should place the restrictions on scientific research under the condition that it may bring out social unrest or exceed the moral and ethics, otherwise, the government had better support the scientific research for the well being of whole society.
