TOPIC: ISSUE56 - "Governments should focus more on solving the immediate problems of today rather than trying to solve the anticipated problems of the future."

The rapid developments of society have already brought some problems. Population, energy and environments problems have show signs a few years ago or even decades years ago. But at that time people did not pay enough attention to these problems and let them worsening arbitrary and finally to serious degree. Similarly, now we notice the beginning of some problems that may develop as a disaster in the future, should we solved them, or just let our descendents to solve them?

Indeed, we have many immediate problems to focus on. For example, the employment is a problem that we must solve. If this problem can not be solved well and the number of unemployed is too high, the society would become unstable. In China, some parents pay a lot of money to let their children to study in college, to hope them to have a good job after graduate. But for some university students, graduation means unemployment, because there are too many students competing for limited jobs. Also the Medical issue is demanding prompt solution. In poor areas, people can not afford expensive medical treatment fee. Social Welfare should ensure that they can be treated.

However, some problems we now face are the problem that our grandparents and parents left us. The Great Leap Forward in China in 1950s damages the natural environment seriously. Nowadays the floods, droughts and dust storms are results of this damage. Another example the influence of Chernobyl nuclear accident in Soviet Unit will continue at least a hundred years before disappeared. Now, Belarus, Ukraine and Russia are still cleaning remained pollution caused by this accident. Are these disasters really cannot avoid?

Too much the same disasters lead us have to consider how we do we make a choice between the two: immediate problems and the anticipated problems of the future. To be sure we should look further ahead and not just our immediate interests. If for our mess of pottage to leave our descendents the Earth which a scene of devastation meets the eye everywhere, how do we explain things to them. And in recent years, the concept of Sustainable Development has been spread in China. The Chinese government now is increasingly pay attention to the balance of development. We are not so improvidence as we before. Before making a decision we have full considered the impact on future generations. And, when solving the immediate problems, we usually think about how to do the least harm to our descendents.

The world is not just ours; it also belongs to our descendents. What we have to do is to ensure the immediate problems be resolved, and at the same time to try not to harm the interests of future generations.
