Are the material progress and well-being of one country necessarily connected to that of all other countries? With the development of globalization, nations are in a tighter net of internationality, regardless of the realm, such as politics, security, economics, culture and the forth. However, the vital motivation of to accelerate the material progress and well-being are determined to the country's own power and position, even though influenced by the material progress and well-being of other countries.

To begin with, under the circumstance of globalization and modernization, countries are increasingly relying on each other to develop its economy. With the popularity of market and competition, nations-especially capitalized ones, are anxious to expand its sales market for the sake of making more profits, so other countries' potential markets are a fundamental reason to cooperate. Moreover, in the era of information explosions, the more useful information and technology you hold, the more advantageous position you will maintain. Elites in various fields are communicating more frequently than ever to contribute to each country's development.

Secondly, to keep the national well-being, one country inevitably needs to cooperate with other nations. A typical example is the terrorism. Since the rampant terrorists are threatening a larger amount of lives and peace of civilians, and are more skilled at triggering conflicts and frightens, one nation alone seems inadequate to solve the everlasting problem. The top security department in each country have been building an international net to track the terrorists and thus eliminate them. Such cooperation proves effective to nations haunted by terrorist attacks.

Finally, the fundamental factor to contribute to the material progress and well-being of one country involves the inside efforts and power. Take the financial competition as an example. According to common sense and history, even in a same market environment created to benefits all the participants, such as World Trade Organization, Organization of Petroleum Export Countries, or other International Organizations, there is no denying that the more advanced countries are winning more, because they are more powerful and can occupy more resources. As a result, countries need to realize that even provided comparatively fair competition market, they should still count on themselves, partly ignorant of other nations' orders.

To sum up, no nations can guarantee that they can thrive solely independent from the other nations. However, the global environment is not the fundamental element to maintain material progress and well-being. In fact, countries need to not only make full use of globalization to absorb advanced technology in order to develop its economy, but also leave sufficient space for it to improve dependently.
