The author claims that the study of history has value merely when it is relavant to our daily lices. However, history contains numerous experiences and great modles in a vairety of the areas, not only in our daily lives. Thus, the study of history has a great value in the every aspect in the world affairs today beside our daily lives.
I agree with the author insofar as the study of history is valuable when it is relevant to our daily lives. since the traditions and life rootines have not changed a lot,
people in contemporary life could learn numerous experiences from precedences. Take the American founder, Geodge Washington as an example, even though he lived 300 years before us, his extrordinary 13 life principles built a guidance for the youny people around the world. With the lapse of time, we also need to respect to others, modisfy to ourselves and be honesty to the world. In fact, without history modles and experiences, we could make more faults in the life.
However, the history values have extended to its leading influences in our daily lives. When it comes to the millitary, we could easily find that the strategies and mechanicans have always come
from the famous books in the history. THE ART OF WAR, a famous millitary book finished in China 2,500 years ago, is found used by the both sides in the Iraqi War. Also it is this books which is called the best guidlines by Marsura Ibuka, one of the founder of Sony Inc., that helped the Sony Inc. to become the significant digital company in the world. When people today have a look of the history, they could easily realize the wisdom of the past in the philosophy actually lends a great guidlines to the today's fierce competitions both in the millitary and in the business.
Actually, the history have more values in our traditonal identities and ethical proud which play an indispensable role in our confidence to overcome the new difficulties with high paced life style and various technologies. When we study the Geodge Washington, we have learned to be modesty to make a harmous relaionship with partners to build a win-win situation. When we see Martin Luther King, we have known that in pursuit of race equlity, we could make nonviolence disobeyance to avoid the confilts which would result in the sacrifices of lives of innocant people.
Since history plays an irreplaceable role in
our aspects of sciety, how could we respond to the study of history? Only by admiting the significant meaning of history and not limit the value of it in our daily lives, could we make the most use of valueable history..
