The ultimate goal of education is to bring up for the society responsive students of diversified types, who【这里用错了,如果有逗号则指的是前面一整句话,按你的意思应该把逗号去掉】 can energetically work 【work energetically】for the betterment of the human race with their unique contributions. In this sense, I do agree with the statement in 【in去掉】that educators shall cater for individual needs and interests of students instead of blindly treating all students in one same way. But at the same time, I think 【that】beyond students' own needs, we also need to pay great attention to the needs of the society when designing our education system.【提出观点:根据个人兴趣教育的确比大众教育好,但是应该根据社会需要来培养学生】
First of all, I regard a student-oriented education system to be superior over the old-style system in 【in与前面哪个词对应?在某方面?】which the obedient student blindly follows the teaching of the teacher. The latter system is represented by the eastern style exam-oriented system, in which the aim of teaching is high grades in tests. The advantage with a system centered on students over one centered on formal examinations are multi-facets. Firstly, it benefits students' personal development. A recent report by American News and World Report has cited the Chinese media in pointing out that because of a lack of care【caring】 for students' interests in high school and limited【limiting】 freedom in major transfer in colleges, many Chinese college students have become pessimistic about their future because they are not doing what they like. It is fearsome to anticipate the possibility that students may bring this negative attitude towards work and life into the society. A second advantage with student-oriented education system is that by respecting students' personal needs and interests, we are actually helping to boost up the diversity of our society. One factor which has contributed greatly to the colorful and heterogeneous American society is that the educational system is constantly working to meet the needs of every student, regardless of their gender, race, age and social background. By comparison, it must be awesome to bring in society students of virtually one type, like in the ancient Chinese kingdom, or in the current North Korea regime,
because the needs and requirements with our social development are also diversified, which cannot be satisfied with social members of purely one mode.
Nevertheless, I also believe that educational system shall be developed to meet the requirenmts of the science and the society, because these requirements cannot be always generalized from students' personal needs. For example, the setting of departments and the funding for academic research shall be in line with the law of development for a certain discipline. In this occasion, the decision from the university administrative sector often has little to do with the interests of students, because they are simply not professional enough to judge the value of the research and predict its future direction. Some needs of a larger society may also be neglected by one single student, who is simply not in the position to evaluate the society as a whole. When students are indulged in entertainments and physical pleasure, as with those described by the Beat Generation, the educators shall bravely take their responsibility to change the mind of students in order to save the society.
Before taking into full account of students' requirements in running the Education system, we have made the assumption that most students' needs are justified and most of their interests are not contradictory to the larger benefits of our society. Meanwhile, this assumption also reminds us that other than the growth of students, our higher, and ultimate goal is to achieve a better society.
