Some people along with the speaker might say "yes" to this question. I concede that a global university will alleviate some persistent social problems to some extent. However, considering several limitations of global university, the feasibility of the speaker's recommendation is open to doubt.

Admittedly, some persistent social problems derived from the discrepancy among people. Nations or institutions involved in social problems tend to focus on their own interest. One example aptly illustrates this point involved the diminishment of Amazon rainforest. Developed countries tend to settle their new factories in developing countries for the low pay labor force. Moreover, the only thing they care about is how much profit they can gain from the rain forest while ignoring the value of biological diversity of the forest. However, the leaders of those developed countries are usually unwilling to forbid the foreign company's excess exploitation because these destructors are also contributors to the countries' economy. As a result, the rainforest is to disappear sooner or later.

Fortunately, global university provides a platform for students' from different countries to exchange their ideas and understand each other as well. By the influence of multicultural atmosphere, students would have a broader view sight than the adults who are charging the world. By discussing with students with different complexion, misunderstanding and discrepancy are supposed to dwindle.Let us turn to the Amazon rainforest example again. It is tempting to think that students from Brazil and those students from developed countries will come to realize that hazard behind the seemingly win-win strategy. And they might figure out a better idea in the perspective of the interest of all human beings.

However, the platform offered by the global university seems to be too expensive since the advanced communicate tools can replace the platform well. In fact, long distance education is prevailing today. Students from all around the world can talk to each other through the Internet. Some people might content that this measure will not be effective as to establish a global university when it comes to decrease the discrepancy among people. However, to establish a global university appears to be luxury given the huge opportunity cost it may carried in terms of how the money will apply to directly solve those emerge social problems such as starving in Africa.

Moreover, some persistent social problems cannot be solved by the graduates of global university even though they have international view sight. Wars between Middle East are striking examples. It is hard for students from global university to tackle these long lasting problems. In fact, it is the intent nature of these social problems determines that it cannot be solved by people who have not a insightful understanding of the culture background of these two countries. Such discrepancies have much to do with religious belief rather than profit or anything else. For that matter, a region university build by the government of several Middle East countries will do more than global university to solve this persistent problem; after all, they can surely know more about the cause and the trend of the local events.

As shown above, while global university holds certain advantages, it is not a feasible choice, considering its huge cost and the limitations. It is wise for nations to diminish the discrepancy among people and invest more money in social problem solving panels, which is more practically in solving social problems.

Not realistic to develop such a global university either financially and practically.
