Any thoughtful individual would not deny that history present us much value through the long-term evolution of our human beings. In my point of view, the speaker seems put more emphasis on the empirical function of the study of history, while the cultural and spiritual value and other effects which may not be relevant to current daily lives should also be taken into consideration.
I agree with the speaker's claim insofar as the study of history can truly bring lots of empirical benefits to our daily lives. Through history, we are able to review our predecessor’s mistakes which act as alert to remind us not to go on their ways. Thus we can avoid of many troubles which had exerts great negative influences in past times. For example, the incidents of nuclear leakage happened in TMI and Chernobyl warn us that when take advantage of these new double-edged technology, it is necessary for us to be cautious about its potential jeopardy. The facts have proven that after we take the disastrous history lessons, the nuclear power under rigorous control has brought us trillions Watt of electricity. There are many other vivid examples around us illustrating that the study of history has much value when it is relevant to our daily lives.
However, it is really shallow to confine the benefits of studying history to the extent that it is relevant to contemporary daily lives. The speaker ignores the spiritual and culture value of studying history. As we all know, history has been a compulsory course in nearly all junior and senior schools all over the world although this subject may not be appealing to some students. Then why the educational authority puts the education of history in such important position? The answer is obvious, for the study of history can improve every citizen's emotional alignment of one's country. By learning the struggling and sufferings of our predecessors who devoted themselves for our nations’ prosperity, the patriotic spirit spontaneously arises. Then people are recognized the difficulty of the coming of our happy daily lives and inspired to make their own contribution to our society. To some extent, this function of studying history has equal value or more with its benefits relevant to our daily lives.
Furthermore, even under the current circumstances that some study of history may have nothing bearing on our daily lives, its value will be enlightened in the future. For the sake of the next generation, the study of history also has values. For instances, the medical doctors are studying the past pandemic contagious diseases like pestilence, although the research at present level does not suffice to find the regular pattern of the outburst of such diseases. But, I believe on someday, the research will show its value and human beings are then able to take corresponding measures to forestall and prevent these catastrophes happening again. Otherwise, why scientists persist in engaging in these studies which seems have no marriage with our daily lives.
To sum up, the speaker's assertion is somewhat absolute. The study of history has value not only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives, but also in the spiritual inspiring functions and in the foreseeable future.

而且语言和结构有待改善)(Talking about history, few thoughtfulindividual would doubt the critical role it plays in human’s long-termevolution. The merit of studying history not only lies in its empiricalfunction but also its influence on the cultural, spiritual and other respectswhich may seems irrelevant to current daily lives. )
I agree with the speaker's claim insofar as the study of history can trulybring lots of empirical benefits to our daily lives. Through history, we areable to review our predecessor’s mistakes which act as alert to remind us notto go on their ways. (Fiascos in history, served as the bestalarm, remind us to avoid sharing the same fate with our predecessors.)Thus we can avoid of many troubles which had exerts great negativeinfluences in past times. For example, the incidents of nuclear leakagehappened in TMI and Chernobyl warn us that when take(taking) advantage of these new double-edged technology, it is necessary for us tobe cautious about its potential jeopardy. The facts have proven that after wetake the disastrous history lessons, the nuclear power under rigorous controlhas brought us trillions Watt of electricity. (Take the use ofnuclear power as an example. The disastrous incidents of nuclear leakagehappened in TMI and Chernobyl present striking lessons for the jeopardy of overlookingthe potential hazard. From then on, under rigorous control the nuclear power hasalready brought us trillions Watt of electricity. )There are manyother vivid examples around us illustrating that the study of history has muchvalue when it is relevant to our daily lives.(其实自己也不知道这个背景知识 感觉例子可以在详细一点
