TOPIC: ISSUE56 - "Governments shouldfocus more on solving the immediate problems of today rather than trying tosolve the anticipated problems of the future."


The speaker contends
that goverments should focus more on solvingthe immediate problems of today rather than trying to solve the anticipatedproblems of the future.I concede people should pay enough attention on the
immediate problems of today because these areoften the most pressing issues.However,governments should have a future plan togovern and develop the society.

Admittedly,the immediate problems is thefirst mission for the government.If the immediate problem cannot bewell-solved, the society may motivate bigger
problem than previous one.For example ,in 2003 ,the America decided toattack Iraq.At this time the most immediate problem of Iraq is to protect itsowm country from the USA army.There is no time to consider the futrue educationor the plan of process the technology for the Iraq government.After recoveringfrom the most pressing issues,it is possbile to make a plan to develop theeducation in the future by the government.Thus ,it is no doubt the immediatethings should be solve at first time.

However,the government should not handlethe emergey problems merely with out caring the future consequence.It is hardto imagine that the more and more problems produced in the near future forpurpose of solving the immediate problems. For example,New York had 1000millions people in the country is short of electric power.In order to solve theshortage of power,the government built a nuclear power station in the centre ofthe New York.Once the nuclear station is attacked someday in the future,themillions of lives will be in danger.

The author also ignore that if thegovernment does not draw a blueprint for the future ,the citizens maybe getlost because they do not know where the country will go and what they can getin the future.For the pupose of win the election. the all candidates
make their promise which is about he or shewill do in the future.This promise give the hope to the citizens and send amessage about future to all people. For example ,Obama,today's president ofAmerica ,have his famous solgan called "change ".This solgan tell hispeople the future of America will be better
and better and the America will get stronger than before..Withoutsolving the future problems , the government lose their people faith.

In sum,the speaker assumes that futureproblems and immediate problem are mutually exclsivealternatives.However,common sence tell us that joining bothe solving immediateproblem and handling the problems of future might produce better results.
