The speaker contents that it is the groups of nameless that made the most events and trends in history rather than the famous people, and our study of history should decrease the emphasis on individuals. I agree with the speaker's broad assertion. After all, the history of human includes each individual and was pushed forward by each person of the world. However, the famous person is the representative of mankind, unless extreme individualism, learn from them will have a positive effect on our life.
It is well to known, the good values and attitudes will product a positive influence on our life. These values and attitudes such as perseverance, brave, confidence, honest, are always exerted in those great men and women. In our shorted life, we can learn the limited knowledge. Hence, through research them not only our learning efficiency can be increased on a large scale, but also the right guide can be provided for us. For example, Abraham Lincoln, one of the greatest presidents of United States, was born poor. He bore her misfortunes bravely and reached the peak of his life conclusively. It is the dauntless heroism of him that inspired and enlightened the future generation.
However, we should never forgot that those groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten. Assuming a great people is one body's head; the groups of nameless people are the body's trunk and limbs. Neither of the two parts can be dispensed. As a saying goes, "a marshal is made on the white bones of thousands of average soldiers". When we sing about the greatness of Lincoln, we should remember that the soldiers fight a bloody battle for their country's unity in 1861.The people who lie in the Arlington Nation Cemetery, no matter they are famous or nameless, they are all heroes in our hears.
Admittedly, we should avoid the extreme personal heroism. The ultra-individualism only have destructiveness but without constructiveness. Personality cult, despotism and dictatorship are all the byproducts of ultra-individualism. For instance, Adolf Hitler used the demagogic speeches and the false promises to advocate the Fascism and ultra-individualism and winning the support of the fervent people. Therefore, in my view, the ultra-individualism has bad influence on the world peace and stability.
To sum up, in my opinion, the great people are very important because they give the future generation many inspired and enlightened stories and examples. Otherwise, we can not forget those nameless people who have dedicated themselves to the country silently.
