As an old saying goes, “one man’s meat is another man’s poison”. People’s opinions always diverge from each other, not to mention on such controversial statement whether parents should help determine the future of their children. From where I stand, the perspective of parents is a more advisable and significant choice for children to some extent. Like it or not, it has several merits that you can not deny.

The main factor for my predilection for parents making decision for their children is that kids are not so quite mature and sophisticated as to make up their own mind. I agree with the statement that parents should draw an approximate career layout for their children without reservation since adults have a wealth of experience of society, life and world outlook. Naturally, under guidance of the concrete and influential behavior of their parents，kids will suffer less defeat, failure or frustration which may be exert negative influence as well as passive emotion on their personality development. The fact that the orphans are more easily wander into the path of crime can serve as a eloquent proof to illustrate how puzzled kids are without enlightenment of parents.

Another equally fundamental aspect accounting for why I advocate the opinion involves the realm of economy. No one can deny that children could scarcely afford the expenditure of certain choices such as attending a private junior middle school rather than a public one after they graduated from a primary school. Furthermore, it is unrealistic that kids should undertake the risk of wrong choice or the probable negative sequence which are fairly beyond their judgment abilities, therefore it is imperative for parents to help their children make decisions to avoid unnecessary sacrifice.

However, every rose has its thorn, and overemphasizing the authority of parents will be indeed counterproductive and even harmful despite the benefits of the guidance of parents mentioned above. The harm it produces is, in my view, both palpable and profound. For kids, it has a debasing impact on kids’ curiosity and creativity; for our society, it may promote a tendency toward a rigid way of thinking.

To sum up, the superiority that parents make decision for the future of their kids outweighs the shortcomings not only because kids are extremely lack of experience but also they can barely assume relative responsibilities. On the other hand, it is imperative to point out that whether parents can actively affect their children depends on whether we can take cognizance of children's interest thoroughly.
