Magazines and newspaper never tire of telling stories about the important of the basic science course. Some people believe that all university students should take basic science course, regardless their field of concentration. However, the problem with taking basic is that, while one spends more time in basic course, one spend less time in his field. Therefore, I disagree that all the university students should take basic science course, regardless of their field of concentration.

First of all, as the development of science and technology, more and more knowledge are created and we are exposed to numerous knowledge. As a matter of fact, everyone cannot learn all the knowledge from different subjects. Therefore, the university students should focus on their major course. For example, I am a college student major in human resource. When I work in a company, I do not need to know how to work in research and development department or sales department. But I must skill at hiring people who other department need.

Second, some basic science course maybe useless. But for a university students start to learn some skills provides more future opportunities. Such as a foreign language. Since students learn foreign language a lot of time, when they graduate from university, they may qualify for exchange programs or study aboard. It would be a great chance for them to live in different circumstances and cultural. On the other hand, more and more international corporations build their business in my country, China. Consequently, students will be more competitive in the labor market when they graduate.

However, some people insist that basic sciences are a foundation of other subject. But I believe students should take the basic science course in high school or middle school. Therefore ,I disagree that all the university students should take basic science course, regardless of their field of concentration.
